Kellty and I joined a few GA paddlers and did some of this huge river last week. It was an amazing trip with super people.

Kelly and I left a few days early and camped at the beach. She's not a cold weather person and it was in the 30's. She kept asking, "It's not gonna be THIS cold on the river is it?" LOL.

The put=in and it's hectic last minute gear checks. "Did I bring my..."

Camp life.

This fine rig belonged to a fella that hadn't camped since like, Viet Nam. He fell right in step with the old hands at camping. He packed perfectly. Never seen somebody do near as well after that long away. Nice job Scott!

Winchester's homemade charcoaling rig. Niiiiice!

W. cooking fried spiced apples on it. We had steaks with them.

More camplife.

That night W. did the double dutch with chicken and rice and cornbread on his charcoal rig.

It's mighty fine paddling on a mighty big river.

So we stopped on the third day at this county fishcamp/boatramp for hotshowers and a snack.
um......we managed to behave somewhat. We didn't PARK there. LOL

Smoked stuffed porkchops that night. drool.

Lat day in Rifle cut. A canal dug by slaves to cut off a looong way around. They did it to get goods in and out quicker to the plantations up stream. I can't imagine how terrible it must have been to dig through this place by hand.

Yes, Max got plenty of attention from everybody on the trip. He hardly ate his food though. Obviously somebody was sneaking him treats the whole way down.

Great trip. Great people. Great times.
