Monthly Project - October 2012
« on: September 30, 2012, 10:17:35 PM »
The credit for the October project's theme goes to WoodsWoman.

This month, the idea is to make a bit of camp gear from recycled or repurposed materials. This is really only limited by your imagination. If you've already made something along those lines, don't hesitate to post it here.

Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with! :)

Coffe can into pot with bail.

Reflector oven from aluminum flashing.

Nice Madmax!

That little lifter loop at the bottom is a neat idea I haven't seen before.

Here are a few of things that I made from old stuff laying around.

This  is a broken wooden (cocobolo) night stick to a cocobolo handled bushtool.

A water bottle fishing kit/pole and I was able to catch a fish.  :)

Some spare webbing into a SAK sheath.

A pants leg into a stuff sack.

That pot tipper mod is really cool Max!!

How do you like the reflector oven?  Been thinking of trying one to bake bread/biscuits, but don't really know how well they work.

Thank's!  It's not 100% pretty but it is holding up really well.  I keep it in my pocket daily and have had it for about a year or so now.

I  made a couple of pot kozies out of some closed cell foam that I recovered from some packaging at work. I'll probably grab some more foam from work and make a new top for the smaller pot similar to the one for the Snowpeak Kettle No. 1. I boiled up some water in one of the pots on the kitchen stove and then put it straight into a cozy and nothing melted and I could hold it in my hand so I guess it's good to go :)

We cooked bannock, biscuits, and cobbler in it.  it's a great addition to the cooking kit.

Bump to remind those who want to do the October project. We are close to November so there will be a new one soon.
