What are these thing????

my dad and i have never seen them until we moved recently , there's a big oak where we see these, my dad cut one open and it ruined his razor. Are these fruit?? If so are they edible

Pretty sure they're oak galls aka oak apples.  Typically caused by a type of wasp.
