I had two and gifted one.  Great piece.

It's a little P shaped striker that has a grind on the back edge for striking firesteels, and a flat front edge for striking flint.

The latest batch have a more "squarish" head on them than the one pictured.

Yep, pretty close to that Kep. That's really neat about the constellation drilled in. Can you hold it up to the night sky and line up the stars?

Here's a little something extra I made for them...

Regretably not, it's just surface decoration, but it does give a nice grip with wet or cold hands

Well, it's a cool idea anyhow. I like to collect different strikers just for the fun of it.

How cool would it be for someone to mill the three pointers into the body of a firesteel so when you lined them up the end of the steel oriented with the north star?

It would be a directional firestarter.

Although the strike-all is pretty nifty as is.

Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? One should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, it is much safer to be feared than loved.

That would be neat as heck. But you'd have to supply it with a chain like the old Minox spy cameras so you could hold it the proper distance from your eye to line up the stars. They would only line up at a set distance, determined by the scale of the holes drilled in the striker. ;)

Thanks! I just sent the money. Odd that I didn't see the e-mail normally I'm on top of that but it's been a strange two weeks at work.

Now the next question is how to we get or make that nifty sheath bolt on you have pictured ? :)

I haven't really determined a price for the folder/sheath thing yet. I'll have to take a look at what I pay for the hardware and kydex by the square inch so I can figure out how much it costs me to make them.

As for your striker I will get it in the mail tomorrow afternoon barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Thanks again!

Gentleman,
Thank you all for helping to see my own idiocy. I never once thought to put a spark stick striking edge on my flint steel. I'll dig out the files tomorrow. I prefer a spark stick over flint and steel because the sparks are hotter and it's more consistent. The flint and steel is fun though and teaches the necessity of good tinder/fine kindling preparation.
Thanks again,
Yeo
