OK now that I have everyone's attention here is the deal.
I just picked up about 60 miles of real type 3 paracord. It comes from surplussed parachutes so the length of each piece will be about 30 feet and I'm selling it by the pound.
There are around 200' of paracord in a pound (probably closer to 220').
No choice of colors, what you get is what you get. And what you get is the best deal on paracord I could find anywhere.
Less than 3 cents a foot for military grade, not the commercial stuff.
$5.50 a pound
Shipping will be based on actual cost, and when I get around to it I will let you know how many pounds of paracord you can stuff into the various fixed price boxes and padded envelopes.
I am currently taking orders
-
Cool deal! Do you have the parachutes too? I have heard of all kinds of uses for them.
-
Can you throw out a price to Kanuckistan if possible ?
-
Thanks Beast that a great deal!
-
is it used? >:D
:)
That's a great deal!
-
I sure you'll be bringing a few lbs east when you come next week. I might be able to scrounge a 20$

First class international looks to be the best bet. 2 pounds would run about $9.99, 3 pounds is closer to $14.00 and a flat rate padded envelope is $19.95 for up to 4 pounds.
Not sure what paracord goes for up in Canada but this would work out to around $5.00/100'

Yes and thank you.Cool deal! Do you have the parachutes too? I have heard of all kinds of uses for them.
No chutes, they just take up too much space so they aren't as cost effective. Plus they are a pain to pack and ship.

Yeah I'll bring a sack of cord.

You're just the greatest upthecreek. Amazing is what I always say when I think of you.
-
Sixty MILES of paracord??!! Holy cr@p!!
That's over a quarter MILLION feet. (316,800 to be exact.)
This could be just the thing to cord-wrap the handles of my Military Spec Survival Spoons.

You must REALLY be into spoons, too! ???

Sounds like 2lbs should do me nicely for awhile Beast.... thanks for pricing that out
A few yr's back Paracord was not to common up here, that has changed now but it is still fairly expensive compared to Stateside... even with the shipping & exchange rate I will still be way ahead.

Mike, how much, including shipping, would $25 get me?

Craig,
I'm not sure yet, it is sitting on my trailer under a tarp and I have to go away tomorrow on an unscheduled trip. But at a guess I think we are in the 3-4 pound range, probably closer to 4 pounds
I'll get it nailed down to a closer figure when I return. Hopefully Monday if it isn't snowing.
-
I'll take some, but wait on the other item you are researching for me before I order.

No worries, no rush.....I've got plenty to last me that long, I think. 8)

I'm in! I'll finally be able to build that scale model of the Eiffel Tower out of paracord and potted meat cans.

Wolfy,
Don't go making it sound like I'm some kind of fanatic. I only ordered 3 dozen spoons from Wilderbeast. Never hurts to be prepared. :D
-
Far be it from me to call ANYONE a fanatic! Besides, now I'll know who to call on first for a padded spoon when the SERIOUS soup eatin' begins. :stir:
-
All this talk about spooning.......oh wait.....you said spoons. Never mind.
-
I'm in for a couple pounds. PM when you get back from your trip, no hurry. Thanks Mike!!
-
This should spice up my sex life....I mean...ummm....my camping quite a bit! :-[
-
Perhaps you know how to tie that handcuff knot then, Punty. I'm sure a video of the process would be appreciated by all, if you do.
-
OK folks, I'm home for a few days so as long as the ice storm that's coming doesn't freeze the tarp on the paracord I'm ready to take orders.
Please PM me with your zip code and number of pounds you want and I'll get back to you with a total and payment infor for those who haven't ordered from me before.
Thanks.
-
Mike, how much, including shipping, would $25 get me?
Craig,
You are right at 3.5 lbs shipped for $25.00, or 700-800'
PM me if that works for you.
Thanks
-
If I missed anyone I apologize, please shoot me a PM to remind me. It's been a very hectic week for me.
-
Mike,
Did you ever get an opportunity to figure out about how many pounds fit in the various sized fixed price shipping boxes and padded envelopes?
Like I need more paracord.
OK OK OK...so I really didn't NEED three dozen spoons either. But if Wolfy shows up for some tactical soup eatin'....I wanna be ready.

A padded envelope holds just over a pound, a size A regional box holds about 4 lbs, a medium flat rate box holds around six pounds and a regional size B holds around 7 pounds
-
Mike,
Once again, I can't resist.
I'm in for a Size B Regional Box. +/- 7 pounds.
PM to follow.
Thanks,
John

I'll be buying some, but I want to talk to a friend of mine to see if he wants to bundle an order with me.
-
Im in for $25 worth. Pm coming
-
All the paid orders have either been shipped or will be in the mail tomorrow.
And there is still plenty left.
-
I will be trying to get some. Just need to decide how much & then see if you still have any, since it is such a great deal.
;)
I will be in touch, when the time comes. Won't be too long.
-
So.. I bought 5lbs. I just sat down tonight to un-tangle it all.
I ended up with roughly 1,500 feet of usable cordage!! BIG THANKS TO WILDERBEAST for such an awesome deal!!
-
That was only 5 lbs? Criminy! That's a huge hank of cordage!
-
Just received a 6lb shipment. Thanks beast. I'll tackle the sorting job a little later with a nice tall glass of Knob Creek.
-
I'm beginning to feel like a piker for only getting 3.5# of it, but I already have 2 full spools on the shelf, I AM 67 years old and my brother & wife are laughing at me NOW! :-[

Got my paracord from Wilderbeast today. It was a day late according to the projected delivery date on the USPS tracking site. I am NOT complaining. I figure it was delayed due to the weather between him and me. Just wanted to pass that on in case any of ya'll are waiting on deliveries.
When Beast packs a box with paracord, he packs a box with paracord. I've found a few lengths that appear to have suffocated due to lack of air in the box. I got seven pounds from him. I've pulled out about 150 feet so far. It's not tangled bad at all.
I'm glad Wilderbeast doesn't have an online catalog. I'd probably be destitute and/or divorced in short order.
As always, Mike, a pleasure doing business with you.
John

Thanks.
I think the USPS has done a crackerjack job getting these boxes delivered considering the weather they have been dealing with.
Sorry about those suffocated strands

Hey. leave Wolfy alone. He ties everything slippery so he never has to cut it. Cordage lasts a lot longer that way.

Just a bump in case anyone missed it.

Order coming this weekend from myself. Probably 3 pounds.

This is one of those good deals that will go down in the epic hall of fame category 8)

$5.50 for a pound of 550
Still plenty left

Of the original 60 mile pile, how many miles do you estimate are left?

Hi Beast! I'm in for 2 pounds if you still have some left. I don't think my p.m. got through so I sent ya another one :)

Hi Pete, I just sent you a reply. There is plenty of paracord left.
Welcome to B & B
-
Got my 4 pounds a week ago. Holy crap, that's a lot of cord! Great condition and the box was jammed full.
Hiding it from the wife until she is out of the house and I can play with it...melt the ends, divide it between myself and my buddy.
Thanks a lot, Beast.

Every time someone says "That's a lot of paracord" it puts a smile on my face.
On the other hand when I am lifting a few totes of it weighing 50+ pounds, I'm not smiling, it's more like a grimace on my face.
-
Checking with two of my friend at work but I may be getting 3 more pounds.

What you need is one of them whips that Hush makes, you know... to crack at any tree rats that dare to wander to close to the fort, ;)

I watched him snap leaves off trees. And yes they were what he was aiming at.
We've seen someone hurt themselves with these whips. Don't try this at home kids.

Well I ordered two pounds and I can honestly say I have no idea how 2 tons were able to fit into the box!! I mean talk about stuffed!! I bought enough to factor in for mistakes and fun projects but I have enough to make mistakes on fun projects!!! I see a zip line at my home in the near future :)
-
Still have some left.
550 for $5.50
-
Just to show how much one pound of paracord is on the left is a standard hank of 100' that usually goes for $8-$9 in the Surplus store. That's for the "commercial grade stuff" that you will typically find.
On the right is a pound of real military spec 550 cord, about 240 feet worth.
So you decide, 240 feet of real paracord for $5.50 or 100 of the knock off stuff for three times the cost per foot.
And it is most cost effective to get at least a couple of pounds since the shipping cost per pound goes down per unit shipped.

Wow. Got my Beast Bag-o-cord today. Only got two pounds but should last me a lifetime. Unless I start knitting truck cozies.

Mike, I'm sending you a P.M. for two #s of 550 paracord. I really don't have a need for it, but I'm sure a good use will come sometime in the near future.
No big rush on this order.
Tom
-
Ok, being OCD, I pulled the individual strands apart and made them into individual wrapped coils. Two pounds gets you 15 coils at 30 feet each. I did the whole chore in about 20 minutes so don't worry about sorting out a noodle bowl. The individual lengths are easy to separate. :)
-
Max, Thanks for the update. I just confirmed an order for 2 Lbs with Mike. Looks like I'll need to learn a good splicing knot to make a few longer lengths. I'm thinking of a fly-fishing knot.
Thanks again, Tom
-
I think a knot will reduce the load bearing strength by up to 50% so adjust accordingly.
-
Max, Thanks. You are right, a knot will reduce the strength of the 550. But I'm going to use the longer piece for a tarp tie down so I should be OK.
Woo Hoo  I have a tracking number, should be here soon. Mike has always been very quick to ship. Thank you Mike.

Tom,
My pleasure. As to longer lengths, a uni to uni knot preserves much of the strength of the line but just about any well tied knot should suffice for your purposes.
And since knots were mentioned we can expect Wolfy to chime in any second now O:-)

No complaints about shipping speed. Got mine in 2 days. I wish eBay could ship that fast. My last order of 300 lumen mini flashlights took 12 days to get from California to Houston.
I had to look up uni knot. Tied on hundreds of those when I fished in Colorado but never thought to use it paracord.

Beast, what is a uni knot?
uni to uni or double uni is a method I use to join two lines, used to use it all the time tying fishing line to leader but it can be used in other applications as well
here is someones YouTube

A useful knot but trying to tie on a 2 lb leader standing up to your arse in ice cold, fast moving runoff defied me most of the time. I wanted to resort to the Water Works Booster method.
-
http://www.animatedknots.com/bloodknot/index.php?Categ=fishing
Nothing stronger that I know of.... but, I am prejudiced... It is the one I use..
;)
I am still gonna order more... I keep giving it to others.. I am bad that way.
;)
-
Craig,
Chime away.
JB, the uni "system" is just what I am proficient with, and a well tied knot is better than a "superior" but poorly tied knot.
MaxE, I've always been a boat fisherman. If I'm standing in up to my arse in ice water something has gone very wrong, and it once did, but that's a story for another time...
-
I've used the Uni-Knot ever since it was 'new' and lauded as being the strongest terrminal knot known to man. ;D It was introduced first in an old issue of (I think) Outdoor Life Magazine, but in some lines, the old, simple and often overlooked Palomar Knot comes out on top of the heap, so who knows?
JB's Blood Knot is, to my knowledge, one of the very best out there in retaining a VERY high percentage of the line's test weight.
-
I bought some ice fishing tackle when we lived in Iowa. We were about a mile from the Mississippi River. The stuff looked like a fly's leg tied to a baby hair. Thank God it was all snelled. I bought it at the end of the season and the river never froze over again until we moved. I still have it along with all my fly fishing gear. Maybe in the next life.

I like the uni for connecting similar sized lines but for attaching dissimilar sized lines, especially when one of the lines is a superbraid like power pro I use a modified reverse albright, sometimes known in the northeast as an "Alberto knot".
-
I like Paracord... Particularly, when it is offered at one helluva price & from a great source.
;D
And I don't care what knot ya use to tie things up with it....
LOL

Seems I am prejudiced that way too...

Woo  Hoo ...My paracord 550 arrived today. I ordered 2 Lbs for $16.75 (with shipping).
That equaled 17 hanks of 30+ ft cord. The cord is O.D. green so it will be great for any hunting activity.
The only thing I'll need to do to the cord is melt the ends to keep them from fraying.
Thanks Mike and my regards, Tom
-
I would probably use grapevine knots to join the cords if I didn't plan to untie them, or figure 8 bend if I wanted it to be temporary, more from force of habit than any other consideration.
