Any Machinists here?
« on: May 06, 2018, 11:57:28 AM »
I picked up an Altlas 618 at an auction. Not the craftsman version. With it came a million dollars worth of cutting bits. carbide and HSS.

I got a box of parts with it for a very much larger lathe. I have a few tail pieces. 2 chucks, two points, and one live point. Also several tool tip holders for carbide and HSS that are way too big for my Lathe. If anyone has a big lathe let me know.

I'll be looking for tips and pointers. I will probably have questions as my projects start. First project will be milling down a rebar for a punch to practice tapers.

The best tip I can give you is to buy this book.   It's the best & most easily understood instruction manual around.....period!
