4.25 lber a friend caught this morning in a decent windstorm. The Culprit Red Shad rigged texas style over a submerged weed bed in 8' of water. This was his first Bass and did a great job brining it in. We caught 4 altogether to win out on a two boat tourny.

That's a nice one and sounds like a good day of fishing. And a great thread.

The wife and I was just talking of getting away for a weekend, so I was cking a few places out. found a nice place with some good fishing. So hope to add something here real soon. I'll post our plan trip and see if anyone wants to join in over in the florida section.

These pics are a couple years old as i dont live at the beach anymore but i caught these walleyes about 20 ft from shore  trolling across a point beside the public beach at Regina Beach on Last Mountain Lake i sask,i lived about 4 blocks from the lake so it took me 20 min to load canoe get to shore unload and be on the water, another 10 min of rowing and i was in a prime fishing spot.these walleye were caught in june of 2013 between 7 and 9 Am,during the summer once 9 or 10 Am arrives its so busy fishing is more or less pointless.chk out the twisted fish,it is some kind of birth defect that was as straight as it got!!!!but man did it fight

That summer it was great walleye fishing, pretty much everytime i went out i got  at least enough for supper, all nice fish between 2 and 5 lbs, caught on a bottom bouncer, night crawler and a yellow spinner on bouncer

The above pics are taken in feb of 2014 in the same spot as the summer pics, all winter was pike like these, whitefish and burbot, where fishing out of my popup iceshack with propane sunflower heater,at -25C with heater on medium i can fish in a tshirt inside the shack.the last pic is of my oldest and closest friend/fishing partner teasing another friend who was on the way to the lake and was late. I love my icefishing setup, with the popup shack gas auger and
That heater i can be hook wet and warm within 20,1/2 hr of finding a spot to fish.can fit 3 people comfortaby,4 squeezed in,but usually is just me or me and 1other.that way both fishers have both their holes right there instead of one outside.i dont have any pics of my shack on this phone but will try finding one.i have the costco kingfisher model, was only150$,had it for 3 yrs now and i have beat  the hell out of it and it still works fine.man i hope i can get out this weekend im starting to get the shakes from fishing withdrawal, now that i got wheels again and dr ok'd me to do manual stuff like operating the auger etc.i gotta get out,and soon.thanks forvlooking

Tried out the double fluke rig today for the first time. I really like how it looks in the water. It will be more productive as the water warms up and the fish are hanging in the top of te water column. I also caught another one on a StikeKing 1/2 jig with a watermelon PitBoss grub off some timber. I fished Lake Harris today which holds some big fish and has many Tournaments on it.

Fishing on the Oklawaha has sucked butt for a month.  High water.  My catch was a juvy snapping turtle on the P&M.   :(  Headed to the Atlantic coast for some surfin' and fishin' this weekend.

Hope springs eternal...

Hey Greg look that rig up. I want to try it for trout and reds. It moves through eel grass/tape grass and follow each other so natural it's scary.

That is a cool looking rig. I wonder how that would do trolling behind a canoe/kayak?

Lol that's was 6 hours of fishing. These fronts are making them hang tight to cover. I found one group on my depth finder that would not take any lure. So I marked it and gonna try a few shiners Friday. Will also get some minnows just in case my finder is acting freaky and its a mess of speck. Which won't be a bad thing.

For sure. The slot for reds in SC was so tight at the time (15-24) we weren't even close. It was a ton of fun though.

I have had the privilege of being a part of my friends two biggest fish is in Freshwater. Its nice to be with a fellow half my age be so wanting of learning something about the outdoors. We started out yaking a small lake catching largemouth with worms and fighting the wind. After getting extended kitchen passes we ran to the house and traded up to a boat with a motor and made a run to my spot. 3 big cats in the boat and one striped released. I had one to the boat as big as this 12 1/2 lb babe but it broke the leader before he could grab it. He felt bad I laughed told him if I didn't hate tripping over a net all the time it wouldn't have happened.

Went fishing for a couple hours at the head waters to the Oklawaha. Caught a few cats and saw Creeks Blue Heron who bailed out of that snow and such he's having. If you look at how smooth the lake is behind my boat you wouldn't believe how bad it got at dark. The wind came strong out of the north east and made one heck of a rough ride in. I was really glad I didn't have little man with me.

two from earlier this week. fishing out behind a friends house.
a fun and unexpected carp, caught on a worm

an equally fun and handsome large mouth caught the day prior, also on a worm

using a somewhat ultralight rig with four pound test mono really upped the fun of catching these fish

Cool 8)     I've never caught or even seen one before, but the edge of Nebraska is in their range and they are mentioned in our fishing regulations, so I guess somebody has.

That's a good looking bass. I need to post up some from this summer. Just got back from the Smokies where I caught a few nice rainbows in Cherokee. Those Bowfins we call mud fish down here. They can get up to pretty big boys. And they will plow a rubber worm.

they may not be "sport fish", but they are tons of fun to catch. I'll also say they fight like you hooked a car driving away from ya & they do make a lot of runs.  'Course that's all on four pound test line and ultra-light gear, which REALLY makes it tons of fun!!
same place, though bread ball for bait on this guy, yesterday evening between thunder storms

well if you target big(ger) fish specifically, and continue using four and a half foot to five foot ultra light rods (cheapy made by company that rhymes with Hiawa) - you will eventually (sooner than later) break that rod in two while fighting a Mack truck headed away from you.  At least that is what happened to me earlier this evening. It was exciting to say the least, and I'll get a new rod tomorrow. I didn't even get to see what it was, but good gosh almighty - it was very, very strong and it did not care a rip what I was doing. It just WENT!

Luckily, I had another rod with me. I set it up, and luck was with me - not to much time went by and this nice cat nailed my bait. Luck was further with me and I landed it. Yes, it was a ton of fun to play (yep - the other rod was also an ultra-light set up but had six pound line strung on it)

I'm six one, and the fish is longer than my arm (to armpit). I measured my arm when I got home, and it's 28-29 inches. No idea what it weighs, but I'll SWAG it at 15 +/_ 2 (actually maybe more of a WAG than a SWAG)

was a boat load of fun to play and land - and like all the others - was released back in to the lake to grow bigger for next time

Went to another lake, near by where i live. No shortage of lakes/ponds 'round here

Where I fished from

Some of the fish i caught. No big ones, but fun, fun, fun all the same

and of course, when you are not getting bites - might as well practice a little fire prep right??  and it is partially a "Blades" forum right??

Knife is a VG-10 (stainless: oh my... ) FFG (full flat grind) Spyderco Endura G4, that has had it's edge completely re-profiled by me via stones, not belts. Not a huge change BUT, works much, much, much better after re-profiling the edge to what it is now

Thank you brother Creek!  I've sure as heck been having fun catching them - no doubts about that,

and this weekend I'm off to the mountains again to exercise my legs a bit more, watch the meteor shower from the hammock, and play patty-cake with some bears. short-ish forty-four mile stretch, and the fish get a break... unless I finish early ...  8) 8)
