Apologies for my absence..
« on: June 14, 2015, 10:28:05 PM »
Apologies for my absence, things have been a little... hectic for me lately.  About 2 years ago, my mother in law was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. She had been responding well to the treatments up until about March. I will spare you all the details, but basically, my wife and I have just finished moving her into our house, by ourselves. Meanwhile, my wife just graduated pharmacy college right in the middle of all this. It basically boiled down to me having 2 weekends to pack and move my MIL, due to all the recent graduation events in my family, among still working full time etc...

Anyway, enough whining. Seems to be calming down a little now, I actually got some shop time in this weekend. I had Dimec make me some Ctek a few months ago, decided I would make a folder out of it. Came out so nice, I had Dimec make me MORE Ctek so I can do a full size knife in it as well :)

Here are some pics:
I got a woodie and a bushtool ground and heat treated this weekend, and this is what a folder blade looks like about half way through being made. Got the folder blade heat treated today, but I still have to finish grinding the bevel, and obviously, make it fit in the folder.

I hope everything inproves for the mother-in-law.

Glad to see you turning out some blades. That folder is bad a$$!

Sending positive thoughts for your MIL.

That folder is off the chart   I may need to trade you out on the next one.

Glad to see you back in the game.
Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? One should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, it is much safer to be feared than loved.

You're a good man Red.

Nice knife.  Like the design and the handle material.

You have really had a lot happening in life for sure, but glad you have her moved in and close now.  I'm sure it's an adjustment but will probably be easier for all of you.  Glad you got some time back to yourself again, and that folder is BEYOND AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hang in there, you know we're here for you!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes guys :) I appreciate it! Looks like things might calm down a little, at least for now.

I will try to get back in the shop and make some more knives asap!
