$10 Dollar Store Survival Challenge
« on: February 18, 2016, 10:32:31 AM »
This is part 1 of a 2 video series. Not sure how it started, but the idea is to survive on $10 worth of items from the dollar store for 24 hours.

This is my video with the gear selection and description:

I'm headed out for my 24 hours out right now. Next video will be tomorrow. See you then...

Good luck, this trip will be in sharp contrast to next weekend.   8)
Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? One should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, it is much safer to be feared than loved.

Oh man!  That stinks.  At least you're ready to go when you get back.

No chef knives in the cooking section?

This will be fun to keep an eye on when your schedule permits.

I might have skipped either the drop cloth or the trash bags (or both) in favor of a $1 pot and $1 worth of ramen noodles, which would make a lot more hunger satisfying meals than one can of beans. But, different dollar stores sell different stuff so I can't really speculate as to what's available at your store.

I am sure with the combination of the saw and the knife you will have your cutting, construction and fire needs covered. Making a spoon with the serrated knife might be challenging though.

Also the green roll of jute twine might be treated with a fire retardant or a preservative and it might not burn as well as the two brown rolls if you use any for a tinder nest.

Looks like a fun experiment!

Yes it looks like a fun experience, looking forward to a report.
Not sure what I by bring, it would depend heavily on the weather.
What a great day to be outside.
