You get what you pay for
« on: January 15, 2017, 05:29:49 AM »
Recently got a 2x72 grinder/sander and an assortment of belts. Immediately realized these were meant for wood and soft wood at that. What type of abrasive should i be looking for to work steel? Maybe some advise on a brand or supplier? I've been collecting files and rasp to start learning to shape blades , any advice welcomed

+1 for Tru-Grit. Most belts include a description indicating best use - wood, soft metals, hard metals, etc.

I use aluminum oxide belts for my 220, 400, 600 and 800 belts and either carbide or ceramic on my 50 and 120 belts.
