Hope this helps.
I used a wooden block for a while and, like Crash said, wood is not ideal.
Here is what I use now. It was cheap and easy to make, bevel angle is infinitely adjustable, aluminum acts as a heat sink and helps keep blade cool.

Started with a 8" long piece of 3"x3" angle aluminum (1/4" thick). Drilled and tapped a hole in the center of the horizontal side. The thumb screw allows bevel angle to be adjusted, lock nut or jam nut keeps it in place.

Cut 1.5" off the vertical side and drilled a hole in the center for a piece of pin stock

Use any type of clamp
