SAK HT question
« on: December 06, 2012, 11:16:07 AM »
Found a nice old wenger whilst helping a friend clean up his place the other day, told him I would clean it up and sharpen it for him. Can I Boil it without blowing the temper?

Boiling won't harm the heat treat at all, however depending on what they are made from it will likely warp the scales.
If put in a dishwasher, both the plastic and nylon handles scales can warp so badly as to pop off their rivets.
I assume the pre-plastic fibre scales would be worse.
The aluminum handles ones will take boiling water no problem.
