**For Sale** Withdrawn
« on: March 17, 2012, 04:01:53 PM »
Ok, folks. I just finished this knife this afternoon and I got some pics of it.

This time, I used a DC current etch to give it a clear appearance. This etch dissolves metal, but doesn't redeposit it like an A/C current etch. This means the logo is etched deeper into the steel. It will hold up to a little more abuse than my regular black logo. The scales were originally shiny, but I rough sanded them to give them a matte appearance, rather than polish them.

Specs are:

9" OAL
4 - 1/4" blade
1/8" thick O1 tool steel
30o Scandi grind
T15 Torx hardware
1/4" lanyard hole
Green Linen Micarta Scales
Exposed tang extension

Thanks for looking! :)

I like it. More utilitarian looking than some of your other work that I've seen but still every bit as nice.

Thanks!

Yeah I wanted to try something a little different. This handle style was inspired by Ontario and ESEE knives. I used a Dremel router to round over the edges of the scales, then cleaned them up with sandpaper. I thought it would be quicker and easier to make this style of handle, but it turns out it takes about he same amount of time and attention as a glued handle with Loveless bolts.

The big advantage of this type of handle is the scales can be removed and the blade clamped in my grinding jig to restore the edge if it ever gets really dinged up.

Thats exactly what i was thinking, the handle looking ontario-ish.  I like the rougher feel on the handles rather than smooth.  I also like removable handles for the reasons you stated.... and if needed take them off and lash the blade to a 9 foot oak shaft and make a spear!!!!  Oh wait, i just watched an episode of Man Woman Wild and am still amped up.... Ok, that was just a joke...lol

That's a great looking knife, and those scales are making me like micarta more.  Very nice lines on this one too!!

I've looked at it a few times again, and it almost has a distinct "military" look to it but not "tacticool" goofy.  I can't really put it into words and I mean it in a good way.

Thanks guys! Yeah the green micarta does have a certain "Olive Drab" look to it. This knife would be right at home amidst a bunch of surplus gear. :)

Re: Intrepid Knife - Green Linen Slab Side Sheath Pics up

Made a sheath for it.

The sheath is made from .060 Kydex "T". It is completely ambidextrous, and can be carried either horizontal or vertical by changing the position of the belt loop. It also has a retention adjustment screw. This screw can be removed for less tension, or installed for more tension.

Kydex was intimidating at first, but it turns out it's pretty easy to work with. It's a little faster than leather, but not drastically so. The actual forming of the sheath goes by pretty quickly. It's the prep work and finish work that takes a while.

Thanks guys. :)

I still have a couple of knives available, but this one is the lowest priced I have right now. There is the tiger stripe G10 one still available, and the ironwood woodlore with the polished blade and file work, also still available (but I haven't priced it yet)...
