Expert axe
« on: July 09, 2017, 08:30:41 PM »
Returned home from the camping trip to find the axe Hayshaker sent in his recent giveaway.

Has EXPERT stamped on one side but I can't make out any other words or letters. I haven't weighed it but I'd guess about a 4 pounder.

I'll start with a good vinegar bath to clean up the head then re-hang it.

Thanks again for your generosity, Hayshaker!

Pretty sure that axe was made for Gamble's hardware.  No idea who actually made it for them.

Thanks for the info. I've snooped around the net but hadn't found anything.

It has some writing in the oval around EXPERT. I'm hoping I can read it after a little clean up.

It's in great shape. Just a little deformation on the poll.

Bingo! That's it. Thanks!

I've got a little Belknap Bluegrass hatchet head soaking in vinegar with the Expert head.

Gonna order furniture from House Handles.

I soaked these in vinegar for 3 days to remove the rust. I ordered handles from House Handle. I'll post some pics when I get finished hanging them (and decide on a pic hosting service). :chopwood:

I ordered handles from House Handle for both heads. I hung the little Belknap first and I'm pretty happy with it.

The Expert is next. I have a 32" octagonal haft for it.

Good one Sarge!  that's the handy packable size.  I like these a lot for in the hunting pack when you may or may not need it.

I finally got around to hanging the Expert. I didn't weight it but I believe it is a 4 pounder. I used an 32" octagonal handle from House Handle.

Thanks, hayshaker, for your generosity.

Thanks, Dancan. The Expert was one of the easiest re-hangs I've done. Wish I had done it months ago.
