Prototype
« on: March 30, 2015, 09:23:36 PM »
Tinkering with some existing blades I have, I modified one of my new woodie's shape some, changed the tip, and exaggerated the handle contours. I kind of like the tip, but I am not sold on the handle shape, it may change in the coming days as I play with it some more...

9" OAL
1/8" O1
4" cutting edge
4.25" blade
4.75" handle
Desert Ironwood Burl
Double liners
Brass Hardware
HRC59

I think it's gorgeous! I love the shapes and colors. I also like that black blade :)
What's that smell?

I started spray painting all my blade blanks, got tired of sanding the rust off of them after they had been stored for a while

That's a great looking knife Red!!  I can see some advantages with the up swept tip, especially to those who didn't like that part on the original.  Is the grip area between the original and your enhanced model?  It looks very comfortable and the scales are great!!

That looks really good Steve, and from my question from the other thread I see it is ironwood!  I like the blade shape and the double liners are a nice touch.  Looking forward to seeing how you like it.  The handle looks good but that's really the most personal preference part of the knife.

That looks really good! I like the handle contours. That is as nice as it gets, IMO.

I also like the classic wood handle look. Simple and clean looking.

I like the blade profile as well, and the handle looks like it may be pretty comfy too!

I just got done changing the handle shape. It just wasn't comfortable, so I brought the swell up and thinned it out so its not so pronounced. Much better feel in the hand now 😊

Shew... she's pretty!  :)

Red,  after having a chance to play with that prototype, I think you nailed it the way it is.  It is a great wood working tool.

Nope, its still sitting in my knife bucket. Sixfooter was the first to inquire about it. I will let you guys know if he passes on it.

I was reluctant to sell it after I made it, I wanted to play with it some more first. I will update shortly
