Frozen Waterfall/Steamed Seafood Outing in winter
« on: February 10, 2018, 12:10:32 PM »
Back from Shot Show 2018 I took to the woods for some relaxation and steamed seafood!

A quick snack

Frozen Waterfall

I steam veggies and fish in the outdoors often, but today I wanted to do a seafood and dumpling feast!
I started with maple wood chips at the bottom of the pot, added some spruce trigs (pine and hemlock work too) and a little water to create steam. Food cooks insanely fast this way is very forgiving to burning or overcooking.

Seafood and veggies along with dumplings

Pine needle tea while waiting

I used two hobo stoves and the Burtinsville Rig to keep the water hot for coffee and tea!

Dumplings, white fish, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, and shrimp.

Trail out!

That looks good! I would have had to add some of this: https://store.louisianafishfry.com/products/seafood-boils/la-fish-fry-crawfish-shrimp-crab-boil-143.html

Thanks for posting! I am glad you also found a work around for the photobucket image hosting debacle.

Thanks for posting, bearthedog!  Now I'm headed for the kitchen... I'm hungry all of a sudden and can't understand why.  :)

For it to taste right, need to cook it in the woods!

Another good trip.
