« on: August 12, 2013, 05:44:30 PM »
It's that time again!  The Land of OZ Fall Gathering.  This is our 4th official get-together and should be just as fun as the last three.  It will be good to see everybody again and look forward to any new faces.  Hopefully Flatlander and I will have something of value to bring back to the group from Rabbitstick!

I'm sure as per usual there will be an active trade blanket so bring your wares and goods and some cash.   ;)

Time:  October 11th, 12th, and 13th

Place: Kingman State Lake

Who's Coming:
Plainsman
fuzzy/ks bushman
Familytracker +?
1066Vik
Creb

What's for Dinner:  Help me fill this out...

Events:  Help me fill this out...

Prize:  We'll draw at random a number out of a hat.  The winner get's an autographed book! (maybe it's a signed copy of 'Bushcraft' from Mors!)   8)

As of now, I'll be there.
Unless the Zombies attack, then all bets are off!!
As far as food, if it is cool by then, a stew type meal would be good for one night.

Hey guys and gals!

I'm gonna need to push the date back to the end of October or first of November.  Something came up and I may be going to the Amazon ;)

Hopefully it is still early enough that nobody asked for their only weekend off, heh?

Would anybody have a problem with the 1st 2nd and 3rd of November???

Also, we could move location if it's too far for anyone.  Kingman is closest for me but I know it's far for Creb and the KC gang.   Maybe back to Eisenhower?  They at least have a dumpster and you could fit around 15-20 Kingman lakes in Melvern.   Just thoughts!  :)

Okay the Amazon thing isn't happening.  Too many variables.

eh, maybe next year.

As for this Bad Boy, I say let's rock!  Let's get a solid vote here.  Narrowing it down to 2 options, would you like to have it:

Original Date and Original Location

or

Nov. 1-3 at Eisenhower/Melvern Lake

Also, anybody got anything new from the spring to share with the group?

Good to see you on here, mas.
Either one will work for me. One question about Kingman, Will we have to deal with any hunting going on around us, by people other than us?

I like the first date a little better and to answer the hunting question if we stick with the original date we will probably see some hunters as that weekend is the first ever pre rut doe rifle season in Kansas October 12-13

We'll just stick with the first date and location then guys.  Thankee for the input.   Viking, thanks for the heads up on the early season.
Crebber, it's not gonna be a constant barrage of fire hehe!

Look forward to seeing you all there.  There are still some holdouts that should show up.  Beauty of early planning.  If there is anybody you can think of who hasn't sounded off, please give'em a nudge will ya?  I sent out a bunch of pm's, emails, etc. but only about a third have responded.  Maybe it's the change of forums or maybe they are retired.  Who knows!

Vik, F-tracker, Creb - you guys have anything you want to present to the group?  Obviously I need improvement on throwing my tools at stuff ha!  Anything else?

I can do a clinic on how to cut tripods by throwing double bit axes hehe. If the god lord provides a deer I can do a clinic on processing in the field.

I got a hold of Rustbucket!  He's alive and well.  He's been living off grid again while working at the tree nursery.  Last I had talked to him in May he was headed in from 160 some days out.  Storms were getting too bad!  Classic Rusty.  I bet he ate well!   :D

He will be at the fall meet!

I'm taking the last of mine with us next week and I'll have your jars.  Somehow after I gave you my jars from last year, I ended up with two more at the St. Paddy's Day!    8)  Anybody remember that one?  sheeesh   :-[

I'll also have the jam jar for the Mrs.   ;)

well I will have two new liquid refresments to try first we had a lot of extra mint this year so decided to try our hand at Creme de menthe I think it turned out awesome but I need gunny pigs to confirm this. Second as im always trying to improve things I made a batch of what I call apple pie allmode this one tends to really sneak up on you. As usual these are made with all organic ingredients.

Well we are less than a week out might be time to start thinking about food. I can bring about 5-6 pounds of pheasant breast for a meal and if I get a deer Saturday morning there is that as well.

With last weeks vacation, and today off for personal business, I have to work Friday so it will be evening sometime before I get there. I'll bring some things for breakfast for one of the days.
If Rusty is telling us to be prepared for a meal, I'm kinda scared, the way he cooks without warning us :P

It's been over a week and no updates on how it went?!

Well...

I think there were only 7 total counting kiddos but that's still more than that one forum had sign up for their big yearly event that got cancelled so we did good there.

There were some RV camping, generator running hunter/poachers on our left...

And we were surrounded by an insane Girl Scout troop on the other sides.

I lucked out because Rustbucket had an extra pair of foam ear buds so I was able to sleep.  They were insane!  Did I already mention that?  From me picking up after them to the 16 piles of and paper left on the trail, to the archery at dusk I was pretty miserable...

The noise alone of 40 screaming children makes me think you really dodged a bullet!

I'm just thankful fuzzy wasn't there or we'd have witnessed what the Tasmanian devil only wishes he could do hahaha

I was very glad to see everybody again.  We've built a good group of close friends over the 2 years.

We ate very well thanks to Rusty and Ben.  Sampled some new shine.  Took a plant id hike.   Banged hot metal.   Chopped wood.  And... that's about it.

I'd say it was probably the last Land of OZ official gathering.  We had a good 2 year run at it though!  Lot's o' good memories.   :D
