I saw one today at Cabelas. It's kind of large for a folder. Not my thing but worth a post.
What a great day to be outside.

I love my OP's.  I like the carbon steel one for a dedicated food prep knife.  Easy to sharpen.

My best internet friend gave me an Opinel a couple of years or so back.  It is the handiest, easiest to sharpen, and versatile knife one can have.  It's light as a feather.  Food prep is probably its forte but it also is good at cutting bale twine, sharpening sticks, and all the other tasks one encounters living on a farm and ranch environment.  In late September we baled the last cut of alfalfa and since I was going to have knee surgery in October I used the Opinel to sharpen foot long sticks that we stuck in the stacked bales and hung the plastic deer fence on to keep them out of the lower part of the stack.  Any knife would have done it of course but I was really happy with how well the Opinel worked.  Besides all that it does fit in the pocket of my bib overalls just perfectly.

It might be helpful to view the collector or display sets on the website to appreciate the size of the No.12. It is large.

I agree the Opinel is a great kinfe, an example of less is more.exactly why I don't care for this model, it too far from what I feel the Opinel should be. But to each his own.
What a great day to be outside.

I bought a 12 after seeing the matching size saw they have.  I agree it?s large, but it?s a great knife as you?ve come to expect from them.  My plan is to make a combo sheath for them just for fun/practice/just because...

I appreciate that point of view lgm. They are kinda cool as they are in original format. If I received one of the new, up-grade styles as a gift I'd use it. Probably never go to the on purpose trouble to order online.

I like the saws. There are cheaper saws to be had but the opi has its own charm. The big one has a lot of wood in the handle and really calls out to be whittled into something.
