How to post pictures - UPDATE*
« on: February 02, 2012, 09:51:18 PM »
UPDATE 11-12-2012

Photobucket has changed their format somewhat so it no longer looks like the same site as this tutorial. There is a link to "switch back to the original photobucket" on their site under your profile name in the upper right corner. Until such time as they remove that option, you can go that route and use this tutorial to learn how to post pics.

This is a simple video tutorial on how to upload pics to photobucket and post them on forums. it will be easier to see if you watch it in full screen mode. here i will walk you through how to upload your pics to photobucket, AND resize them to the correct forum ratio all in one step. if you have any questions, please message me or ask here :)

Another option to resetting the resolution on your camera is to use one of the free resizer programs available online to accomplish the same thing.  Looking forward to the tutorial.
Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? One should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, it is much safer to be feared than loved.

Thanks for doing the tutorial guys, that is great!

I have been trying to find the sizing menu of my camera and there was no setting like that.  Good to know it's in PB, and I didn't know you could do multiples either.  Well actually I figured there was a way....I just no got the smarts to figger it out!!

Maybe some day you can show those of us without the brains (ME!) how to put a video link or whatever up too?

Dano, when you click "reply" to a post, there is a youtube button on the left of the editing buttons, just above the first smiley. Just click the youtube button and paste your youtube video link between the tags.  ;)

I don't mean to hijack this especially from Zeus for fear of lightening bolts striking me down. Wait I don't have to worry about that here. Hey guys I just wanted to let you know that I use my Picasa Web Albums in my Google account for posting my pics. I have found it to be much more reliable than photobucket. It never crashes. All you need is a gmail account. If anyone needs help let me know I will be more than happy to walk you through it.

yes ma'am, picture trail will work. all you need is a hosting site to uplad pics to so they will generate an image code. photobucket, picasa, picturetrails, tinypic, inageshack, all of those are just fine :)

just a tip, for those of you who are already using facebook but do not have a photo hosting account. You can right click the pictures in your facebook album and post the links between the image tags in your post and use facebook as an image host. Get the image tags by clicking the Mona Lisa button to the right of the youtube button.

I am not sure if they shut down remote embedding if a certain bandwidth is exceeded or not, but it is a work around if you don't want to get a separate image hosting account.

The following image is hosted at the B&B facebook page.

I heard some photobucket pics were being pirated by third parties and then I found the fine print allowing it.

The license described in the Photobucket TOS (terms of service) explicitly allows for reproductive and derivative use without prior consent:
If you make your Content public, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license (with the right to sublicense) to copy, distribute, publicly perform (e.g., stream it), publicly display (e.g., post it elsewhere), reproduce and create derivative works from it (meaning things based on it), anywhere, whether in print or any kind of electronic version that exists now or later developed, for any purpose, including a commercial purpose. You are also giving other Users the right to copy, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce and create derivative works from it via the Site or third party websites or applications (for example, via services allowing Users to order prints of Content or t-shirts and similar items containing Content, and via social media websites).

That's probably going to be the case with any free image hosting site.

Edit: BTW, I like imgur.com, no account needed, very easy to use, I actually have a bash script I use to do uploads, and it spits out the url on the command line. There are also several tools like an extension for firefox to make it easier.

I tired to post pics and can't get it to work. I followed the video (posted above) exactly, and did everything except when I try to paste the pics, it doesn't work. The cut, copy, and paste buttons aren't even highlighted to click to past a photo. On photobucket, I hit the control button & copied all, hit done, but when I come over to the forums...NOTHING. Can anyone help???

You do not have to hit "done" after you copy your image links in PB.  After you've copied them and come back to the forum, right click and a menu will pop up to allow you to paste the pic or hit CTRL V and the menu will pop up to allow you to paste the pic.  If that's what you're already doing and nothing is happening, I don't know what to tell ya.
