Modded existing sheath into a dangler.
« on: March 18, 2012, 06:34:31 PM »
I have been drooling over dangler sheaths for some time now.  A while back a friend gave me a Mora in a sweet leather sheath.  Been eyeballing it and knowing my skills are not up to replicating it, I decided to add a dangler to it.

I used a large keyring hoop I picked up and just riveted a loop out of a chunk of scrap I had.  I stained it with Minwax Dark Cherry wood stain (it's what I had) and I think it matched up pretty good.  I've used the wood stain before on leather and it works very well, at least for me.

I like the Mora ( a 511 with the finger guard amputated) but I wanted to use this with my Hultafors, so I de-guarded it too.  Fits very nice.  Looks odd, but feels good in the hand.  I may hit it with some Krylon for plastics and see if I can mute out the orange.

Nice job, and that IS a good color match!

And with the key ring you could remove it easily if you wanted, very nice.
