Do you have to add a half hitch to ensure the buckles don't slip? I tried a buckle and a descender ring setup both slipped.
Tying the Becket hitch above the loop is similar to tying a rope halter on a horse with the half hitch above the loop, it will slip and your horse would be free.
With the ring setup I tried 4 years ago it always slipped without the backup half hitch. I got tired of this setup quickly and researched for a better system and found the cinch buckles from Arrowhead Equipment and still use this today on my day hammock. This setup has has never slipped on me.
I won a Dutch hammock last year with the 'Beetle Buckle' cinch buckle system, I have only used this hammock a couple of times and it hasn't slipped neither.
