finished a Caping knife with Mesquite burl, really cool wood. The bottom knife has Box Elder. Both made on the 14 inch wheel. Haven't decided if I like the hollow grind or the flat grind better

Really unique Mesquite burl on S35vn stainless. Convex grind with distal taper to the tip

You are getting seriously good Dan! Those look really really nice. I like your makers mark too! Simple but elegant. Have you messed around with a user in the s35vn steel? I've never tried it myself but it's getting awfully tempting to try. I hear good things on it.

I like the S35vn steel. I have used this steel a few times and I've got a few more blanks to finish. These were hardened to 60 and so far are wicked sharp. If I don't sell them all I'm going to take one on my elk hunt this year. That should be a good test

.....what Stan said^ Another thing I appreciate is leaving just vestiges of the original file teeth present on the spine to indicate its origins. While I like the appearance of the knives or rasps with the whole side of the knives covered with teeth, they look like they'd be more of a job to clean and create a hindrance when cutting meat, cheese or anything else that they'd have a tendency to stick in......but what do I know?

Those are both great, but I agree with OE on the stacked leather one, I really like it!! Outstanding work Dan!!

Just out of curiosity, is the Elk sealed with something, or does it just polish that well? It really seems to have a sheen to it.

Well the time spent picking the material pays off. Your style is a good blend of usable art, with enough color and shine to show off without being too flashy.
