Vendor Forum Cleanup
« on: January 03, 2016, 06:33:15 PM »
A couple of weeks ago I posted a notice to vendors that I would be archiving any inactive vendor forums after the first of the year. Any vendor forum that has had no activity in 2015 has been moved to an archive. All of the posts can be readily restored if they choose to, and member post counts will not be affected.

I have also renamed the vendor forums "Vendor Forums" since our mythology theme (while fun and appropriate for the forum in it's infancy) isn't really descriptive of the content in that section.

Any vendors who wish to renew their subscriptions may contact me via PM. I am working on a system to integrate vendor subscriptions with the supporter subscription system but I am having a bit of difficulty with implementation. I will get it figured out.

Thanks for your time! :)

I would like to see some more vendors, not tons like some other forums but I am interested in purchasing from fellow members instead of amazon or eBay.
Nice matters

Ditto

I love being out in the woods!   I like this quote from Mors Kochanski - "The more you know, the less you carry". I believe in the same creed, & think  "Knowledge & honed skills" are the best things to carry with ya when you're out in the wilds. They're the ultimate "ultralight" gear! ;)

What specific products are you looking for?

Maybe production knives, outdoor gear. Common things that most of us would purchase,  for example rope and other cordage, storm proof matches,  even books. As the owner of the forum it might be a good source of revenue. Other than what wildebeast sells there is very little variety of things to purchase. Having said that I would hate to see vendors that are only here to sell products

Maybe a requirement would be vendors would have to have at least a couple hundred posts before becoming a vendor

On a UK site that I am a member on, we have a 'Buy, Sell, and Gift' section in the forum. It's where members can purchase things from other members or put up an "ad" requesting a trade for something they're interested in, or for gifting something to a member or members. The catch is that vendors are not allowed to market their products on the forum. For each "ad" requesting $/? for the item a member sells, they include a disclaimer that essentially states that they are not in the pursuit of profit. I tend to agree with this way of thinking, as the forum owner, moderators, and members agree that things can get out of hand when a mass of vendors set up shop on an internet forum. A lot of us have seen it happen on other forums (*ahem* *cough* BushBully forum *hack* *wheeze*), so for us, the UK forum is a relief. Vendors are allowed, however, to post their own websites in their "signature" and post threads showing off their latest goods that we all  over.

I think that kind of system works very well. Just my opinion, no offense meant to any vendors here.
