Superman motto
« on: October 18, 2021, 01:04:10 AM »
"Truth, Justice, and a better tomorrow!"

What the he!! was wrong with the old "Truth, Justice and the American way!"?

In news articles from CNN, Variety, DC Comics, New York Times, Fox8news, and many other outlets,  Superman's motto is changing.

According to some of the news articles, the original motto started on radio in '42. America had just experienced Pearl Harbor and Superman was there to boost American spirits. Fighting Germans, Italians and Japanese, he instilled a sense of patriotic pride in American listening audiences.

Now Superman may be an illegal alien that jumped the border via a meteor crashing into a cornfield but his upbringing by an American couple and his history of exploits promoting America through the decades would seem to cement his patriotism to America.

"We need it to better reflect his international status" a DC Comics representative said.

Well, If the "American way" is Justice, Peace and Prosperity, then what's wrong with the old motto?

I know this is just an imaginary cartoon character, but it is a part of Americana. Saturday morning radio and TV programming were instrumental in forming the values and mores of a nation. Truth, Justice, and the American way seemed to sum up the basic sentiments of all of them. They were like our own national cheering section. Nothing wrong with that.

Sometimes it's the little subconscious things that make us what we are. Superman was one of those things. Popeye was another. He would sing,

"I is was I is and I am what I am". That little saying runs through my mind on occasion. Both when I do something extraordinary and when I can't seem to get something right no matter how hard I try. Sometimes you just have to accept your limitations and rejoice in the skills you do have. Popeye reminds me that I can accept that, and move on.

Radio and television have played a big part in making America a leading force in the world. Broadcast media brought the common folk information for farming, animal husbandry, household maintenance, cooking, canning, food safety, automobile servicing and troubleshooting and the list goes on and on. Educating  the nation and making our nation smarter and stronger. And it was/is all free for the taking, only requiring a receiver. What a great deal. What a great country. I'm glad I'm here.

that's just part of the problem with Superman.  He is also now a homo.  The sexually abnormal 'community' is in full recruitment mode now

Well that shouldn't be a surprise,  they convinced Batman and Robbin to come out of the closet about a month ago,  rumors are that in next months addition both will be wearing pink masks and sporting matching diamond studded (no pun intended) secret decoder sweetheart rings,  I can't imagine what they are going to do to Captain America,  remember the old normal,  before the enlightenment ?
As my dear departed hero and mentor used to sing,  "Those were the Days".

Yup, no doubt there is controversy regarding Superman, but being a "homo" wasn't one of them. For that, you need to look at his son Jon.

The very idea that we are discussing this is appalling. What in the world was wrong with conventional, strong, decisive hero's and role models?
We all know, and knew even as prepubescent youngsters, that it was all fun and fantasy. But at the same time, our English class teachers were trying to get us to see the "Symbolism" in the literature we were required to read. Well, the symbolism of comic book hero's and Saturday morning Cowboy adventures wasn't lost on us.

Yes sir, by today's standards, Ol' Roy would be riding his horse bareback in more ways than one and Dale wouldn't even be in the picture.
I prefer the standards of yesteryear.

I'm not sure what is wrong with the writers and publishers of today's genre of juvenile art and literature, but I suspect it's driven by money. Somebody somewhere has put the notion in DC Comics head that such antics are to their (DC Comics) financial advantage.  I, for one, hope they go broke.

Tights, tiny little short shorts and a bright red cape? Superman has been liberated to be what he sways was. Superpride rules.

Rumor has it Captain America will be rechristened as General Homeland with a shield  covered corporate logos and Wonder Woman will keep her whip as a Wall Street CEO.

Donal and Daisy wont be getting pants but they only have three fingers anyway so its ok.

it is inescapable that the left is using cartoons and pop culture to undermine American traditional culture and values.  This works in part because today's parents themselves were raised and educated in government schools and lefty propaganda cartoons.  these changes are not being done for the money, they are being pushed on our kids by dedicated and agenda driven left wing activists.

I Knew It  Finally explained thanks. Don't read comics anymore but always suspected the Quaker Oats guy was watching every move. Probably listening too. And why was Uncle Ben so happy? Always suspicious of him. Every time the kitchen light came there he was smiling away. Aunt Jemima laughing at us was one thing but Uncle Ben was scary. Like he knew some  secret or had a plan. Probably a Socialist too. Trusted Betty Crocker though, she was hot.

Thanks for connecting the dots. Nobody ever believed me. But i knew . . .
