Took this tonight surprised it came out as well as it did without any macro setting on my camera. you'd be surprised how crappy the cam is that took it LOL

It wasn't holding focus. It would looked focused on the viewing screen, and the image would come out blurred. It's a great point-and-shoot snapshot camera, but fails miserably if you try to get creative.

Exactly why I loved the old TTL SLR's.........and I'm too bullheaded to buy a digital

I just can't afford the price of 35mm film and processing any more. It's ridiculous!

I still want someone to explain the whole color-on-black/white thing. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it the hard way, and have never had the results I want (like the 2nd shot with the casings above).

hey OP. There's a simple way of doing it. There is a setting on the camera. You set it to show only the color(s) you want it to show and it will automatically filter it out for you, up to a a certain point within that color spectrum. I believe most digital cameras have this setting now. No need to photoshop separately later on.

Good camera! Mine doesn't have such a setting that I can find in the manual, though.
I have two cameras to work with, and neither can do that from what I can see.

Took this ghastly pic out the window of the truck while my wife ran into the post office. There was a storm up on the plateau, and sun behind us. I wanted to try out an HDR camera app for the phone. It actually takes three different exposures and automatically stitches them together. I added a tad more contrast and saturation after the fact. It would look a heck of a lot better if it weren't for the blown out car paint in the foreground. I didn't want to crop it too much though so it is what it is. Real HDR is sadly out of my reach unless I want to lug a full sized SLR since my point and shoot cameras don't do bracketed shots.

Awesome colors! It may be my color settings on my screen, but a tad less saturation would be good, too. Looks like that app is pretty cool.

I agree, for the cars, definitely. But the clouds and rock I think are pretty good for an HDR shot. If I had "dried it out" enough to make the cars less garish, the sky and mountain would look uninteresting...

It was one of those shots you have to take as-is because it looks neat, but getting the right equipment and driving around to get the right composition isn't practical because you have stuff to do.

There was a tread in another Time and Space that dealt with post-processing. Maybe we ought to start one here. I spent years learning darkroom techniques, and it's amazing what you can do with today's software and digital with the click of a few buttons!

No, closest neighbor is over a mile away, know him well and no bees. For three years now the bees love me, and I've yet to find their hive.

Maybe you know this, but bees return by the shortest route to the hive via a 'beeline'

. If you can capture a handful of those bees, put them in a jar and release them one at a time, you can follow each one until you lose track of it, then release another, and so on until you come to their hive. I've never tried it, but a beekeeper told me about the method, so it must work

Learn something new every day, sounds reasonable. Will give that a shot as soon as I can. I'll let ya know how it turns out.

There are many things that go into getting a good photo, two of which are being in the right place at the right time & having a camera with you to capitalize on it, here's one from a couple yrs back on my way into work one morning.

Very cool OP! I don't have a waterproof camera. I do have a "helmet camera" with a waterproof housing, but it's a video camera with no screen or viewfinder and taking still pictures with it is complicated.

It's designed that way. The "SW" in the 720SW model name means (Shock/Water Resistant). Shock resistant to a 5 foot drop, and water resistant to 10 feet depth.
