LOL W.W.~ In my case, even after carving a bunch of different simple wooden utensils over the years, & I do speak for myself here...For me, there seems to be a ratio of 1 spoon to 1 spatula/spork...
LOL
In other words, Many of my "intended to be" spoons, turn out to be spatulas or sporks, due to some mistake I make,or a bad turn in the wood, etc.. So, in my case,I am going to try to start out with a spoon & it make take several attempts before I actually get a spoon.

I think it is due to the fact that most of the time I go to carve a spoon, it is because I "need" a spoon. So I get in a hurry. I rarely carry stuff with me, that I can make on the spot..Like utensils to eat with. So, I usually are carving utensils as I am watching the food get cooked that I need the utensils for... Then when done, they either go in the pack/pocket, or into the fire.. It depends...
LOL
So, for this project, I am making one ahead of time & I think that takes a little pressure off of me.. Maybe I'll actually get a spoon on the first try this time, instead of a spatula or a spork.
G'Luck with your spoon, & spatula!
