Title: The Dreams of a Nut.
Post by: madmaxine on November 14, 2021, 03:25:54 PM
So I have weird dreams.  Last night was no exception.  Meds have something to do with it.  But on no meds they are too disturbing to relate.

I go to sleep fantasizing about prepping and junk.  But life sneaks in somewhere and it goes from friction fire practice to... well... whatever.  I watched the African Queen last night.  I dreamt I accidently burnt the village down when my fire got out of control.  I wasn't the Nazis.  But I might have well as been.  Pause.  Old man midnight pee.  Back to bed and (Thank you quetiapine) bang right back to sleep.  Enter the Sandman.  It was a baby in a stroller.  With an Opinel.  Not a toddler.  A (http://bladesandbushcraft.com/Smileys/krystl-white/censored.gif) in his pants baby.  He looked up and started babbling at me.  In English.  I'm not a baby expert but I don't think a baby has the physical means to actually talk.  Now it's really creepy.  Kelly wanted me to get that knife away from him.  I didn't want anything to do with that freak.  All the time babbling on and on like my wife (God love her) and her sisters and Mom.  I lost the gist of it when the southern drawl got in the way.  Not unusual.

I woke up eventually and stumbled into the kitchen to make coffee.  The dogs thought it was time to eat.  Wound their way around my legs until I gave up and fed them.

I'm throwing all my Opinels away today.

I dream a lot but mine tend to be looking for the way out of a situation, or a building, or a wild place like the woods.  Usually a woman with me, almost always my wife.  No babies but other strange folks at times.  I never find a way out of these situations although I get close but wake up before it happens.

I make coffee first thing in the morning.  The cat just wants out at 5:00 AM and gets back in when my wife or I get up a bit later.

My Opinels don't ever figure in my dreams.  I carry a 8 in my pocket a lot though.  I have a 10 too but seldom use it for anything at all.  Now I will probably have one in my next dream but won't throw it away.  Remember babies and bathwater.

Lol.  I normally use Opinels for food.  Mine don't cut nasty anchor rope or any edc carry stuff.  I have completed a wilderness survival course with one.  I wouldn't recommend it.

Crashdive and (early on) Red spoiled me with handmade knives.  But I can somehow put an edge on an Opinel like I can't on anything else.

No talking babies last night!  Woo hoo!

But Max and Tellico were arguing in the living room.  They were both wrong.

Oh yeah.  One more thing.  I can't find my GB hatchet.  Got my Wetterlings canoe axe but I paid a lot for that GB.

I was kind o awaiting some revelation in my sleep as toi where I left it.  I got nothin'.

Maybe the talking baby stole it.

talking babies is one thing.  i would'nt start to worry till you wake up in the middle of the night and see your cat
speaking a subtle form of catonese into your shortwave. then it's time for the meds.

I wish I dreamed about Opinels... even wielded by creepy babies.

I dreamed I got bit by one of those iridescent green flies you see on a pile of dog poop and it gave me a super power. I could smell every pile of dog poop inside a mile radius.

Last night I woke up all bothered with a dream of a chihuahua on it's hind legs drinkin' Crash's hard cider around the fire.  That damn dog was intimidating.  He came on to me.

eeeew.

Maybe Mexico is where you want to go but you will wind up in Germany.

Maybe I was in Germany last night.  I  was in the German club growing up.  Can't engage much verbally but I can get the gist of the spoken words.

Max/Tellico was clinbing a tree and hopped from one to another way up high.  As soon as I spotted him and got worrying he fell.  Woke up before he hit.

Very similar to some rock climbing dreams way back when.

Interesting comment about the waking up before the pup(s) not hitting the ground.  I fell a few times when climbing.  One July in about 1970 we were traversing a snow field at the top of a long crevice that was a dog leg to the right about half way down.  Probably about 600 vertical feet of drop if you went all the way down and at angle steep enough to reach high speed but stoppable with an ice axe, if you would have brought one along.   :P  Long story short the snow let go and off I went.  Attained enough speed to cross over the dog leg and hit the side wall of the crevice.  No damage physically other than bruises and abrasions.  Had dreams about that fall for three or four years, maybe longer in which I was airborne and flailing my arms as I went towards the bottom of the abyss.  I never made it to the bottom in the dreams, always woke up before the hit.

I have heard the ?old wives tale? about if you fall in a dream and hit ground before you wake wake up ? you won?t wake up. Glad I always wake up before I hit.

The only recurring dream I can remember I had for years. I would dream I urgently needed to shoot a bad guy and my pistol- always a pistol- would not fire. Or the bullet would exit in slow motion and fall to the ground before it hit the target. Have not had it in a long while.

As I recall, General George Patton recurrently dreamed that an enemy bullet would bit him squarely in his handsome beak.

I dream of Jeanie with the light brown hair.

P.S.   Don't tell Heather!

Sarge, I have heard that old wives tale, and when I was a kid I believed it.  Hit the ground and you die.

wolfy, I won't tell Jeanie that you dream of her either.

I haven't had this particular dream for quite a while now, but I used to dream I could fly.....just not too high off the ground.  It was like a Superman flight.....arms straight out in front of me, but never more than a couple of feet off the ground.

Hmmm.  As your analyst I would say that low trajectory means you were in great need a Harley Davidson when you were flying along.

My longest term reoccurring dream is also one that started at a very young age.  A lady would come to our home to sell my mother a vacuum cleaner.  My mother would always buy one from her and would leave the room to get the money. The lady who sold them would immediately turn it on and try to suck me up into the hose.  Chased me all over while I screamed in terror.  In the dream I was never caught but it was close behind me the whole time.  I never understood why my mother bought a vacuum every time this lady showed up or why she never heard my screaming.  Only later did I read about Freud.

These started when I was about five and continued until well into my twenties.

If I had had that recurring dream I think that I would have grown up vacless, using only a whisk broom and dust pan.

I dream of flying once in a while.  I have to flap my arms really hard.  Now and then I can soar.  Like being under canopy.

Nightmare.  Bought a nice knife with some super duper steel.  The more I sharpened the duller it got.   Arrrrg.

I used to dream that I left my body and went flying off somewhere; seemed real and I could see my body back in bed where I left it.  Mostly went cross-country over fields and woods, but it wasn't night anymore where I was flying.  Kinda scary; glad I don't do it anymore.

I was surrounded by chihuahuas.  They hated me.  Max had found his youthful vigor and attacked them.  His thick coat rendered him immune to the little shots bites.  Tellico finally figured it out and started attacking.  Funny that I worried that this would trigger really bad behavior in the future.  But I appreciated the help.  The little f_<>=s kept getting through my pants.  The calvary arrived in the form of the local dog park regulars.  Even those (http://bladesandbushcraft.com/Smileys/krystl-white/censored.gif) standard poodles.
No I won't be starting a dog fighting club.  This was a nightmare.

Lately I dream of a variety of things, mostly trying to do some task.  I can't do it because something goes awry.  A couple of nights ago it was trying to put a ball on a shelf and it kept rolling off.  It seemed like I tried for all night to get it to stay but it wouldn't.  I woke up and it was 1:30 AM.  I went to bed about 11:30.   :-X

I think I've found the perfect pee bottle.  A peanut jar.  Just mark it well.  Like with something you can feel in the middle of the night.

Don't ask me about why.

I had two recurring dreams in my lifetime. One surreal and one prepping.

The first one was a very nice trail though some tall weeds to the edge of a large pond where a wooden boat sat partially full of water. Peaceful right? No. It was a nightmare for some reason I was afraid of the pond. Afriad to go near the boat. The thing that made this so weird is the realisim, so much so I would look out the kitchen window to see. Nothing there but forest and a huge valley, no pond...

My second dream when I was in my teens was of amputation. Sometimes my leg, sometimes an arm. Always a differnt reason for the loss but always drempt to the point of dealing with the loss mentally immediately after the injury then I'd wake up. This occurred every night for a year at least. Then I almost lost my pinky finger and needed surgery to sew the tendon back together and all the muscle, nerves, and flesh. Never had that dream again.

The oddest thing is I now live near Ox Creek and it is reminicent of my early dream. Tall weeds and large pond. It is full of water chestnut, not the edible kind but the invasive ones. I still get that wierd nervousness around it that I had in my dream but no fear really. If I find a sunken wooden row boat....

Interesting XJ.  Each has a central fear.  One will take you and the other you lose a part of yourself.  Lot food for thought there.

I had quite a few recurring dreams when I was younger.  Some scared the dog food out of me and some not so much.

I remember a Shipmate that had a recurring dream that got him disqualified from Submarines.  He dreamt that he was on the pier giving hand signals to the crane operator to lower a pallet of equipment.  As the pallet grew closer and closer, he was directly beneath it.  In his dream he reached up to try and stop it.  Of course, the bunks on Submarines are like little coffins, so when he reached up, he would be pushing on the top of his bunk.  He couldn't shake it.
