Title: Huilafors knife & a project.
Post by: lgm on August 30, 2015, 04:42:33 PM
jontok sent me this Hultafors knife & fire steel. From his generous giveaway.

I have been playing with it and comparing it to my Moras.

I like the Mora but don't use them much. I think I like the Hultfors a little more. I have had chipping problems with the Mora.

Fire steel works good & was a nice surprise.

I played around with the knife a bit.

Then used it on this chair I made using only hand tool one could carry in the woods.

The knife worked great to clean the notches & make pegs. I really like carving Cedar.
I also used a eye auger I made & a DeWalt side strike chisel.

Playing around with different joints

Thanks again jontok.

I've had a GK for years and love it.

That's a cool seat, looks like it could blend into the woods easy enough to loose :'(

You remind me I did not finish the challenge ...all I did was the easy part.

And imo, your T auger handle would make a great thing to share!
Thanks for the pics

I was thinking of doing a thread on the auger & chisel.
Not tools I would carry every time I go in the woods but very useful at a base camp.

That's a good idea......I, for one, would enjoy seeing them.

That would be great.  There are a couple forum topic headers where these would fit perfectly IMHO.

Nice knife! I like the chair, too. A few of those would be nice around the fire pit.
