Title: Italian Wool Blankets
Post by: Wilderbeast on October 24, 2012, 06:35:32 PM
Check out these new Italian Army wool blankets! They're in stock but only in limited quantities. They are made of 100% high-quality wool and come brand new. Brown with cream colored stripes, these cool looking blankets will keep you warm in the coldest weather. They do have the moth ball odor which goes away after airing them out.

If you are looking for a nice blanket to build a bedroll around, here you go.

These are a high quality blanket, I'd guestimate they weigh around 4 1/2 lbs and the approximate size is 81" X 62"  (there will be some slight variation.

$45 plus shipping

I've got one of those. Those things are sweet!
I originally bought it to make a capota out if, but I just couldn't bring myself to cut it up. I glad I didn't ;)

Ahhhhhh, the authentic moth ball smell? How lovely! :)

Anyone who needs to deal with this... don't do a dry cleaner. Actually made it worse on mine. Just hang it outside for a couple weeks, or so... Then just stick it in your house, opened and let it take in some of the house smell. Mine was really stinky, so it took awhile.

I left mine hung outside for quite awhile. It got rained on several times, snowed on many, many times and froze and thawed many times as well.
It was out of any direct sun, so it didn't bleach. Finally, after a few months, the smell was gone. I knew that I didn't want to wash it, so I just let nature take care of it for me ;)

I thought the same as well. I got four of these and the only ones I've seen are the new copies that are 80% wool. People better jump on these while you can.

More than you would want to carry on an extended hike and fewer than you would want if stranded in an ice cave during a blizzard.  ;)

You'll need one Italian surplus blanket for that capote project Max

If you want I can send you the link to that other place where the pattern passaround happened, it has a bunch of pictures that would really be all you need to reverse engineer it.

But I won't post it here and would appreciate it if no one else did either for reasons we don't need to go into.

You might also ask upthecreek, I think he may have had that pattern in hand at one time.

I'm afraid those were all sold during my Thanksgiving Sale.

However I happen to have one brand new, never used USGI 100% wool blanket Made in the USA with U.S. Stamped on blanket in black lettering. Approx Dimensions: 62 inches x 80 inches.

This is out of my "private stash" but I'll make it available for the same price as the Italian blanket, $45.00 plus shipping.

You have dibs.

If you don't want it. it will be available to the first "I'll take it" posted.
