I'll spend a night out with the winner's kit. :)
Rog,
Thanks for taking the initiative to set this up.
A grenade pouch is big enough to pack a mess of essentials as well as a few comfort items but is still small enough to grab and go.
I eagerly await the entries.
Tony, thanks for putting yourself out there.

Yep, and you can just button it to your belt, so there's a convenience factor.

That makes it easy! I will just fill it with more of those grubs you ate. :P
I'm in and I will start getting the contents ready for my kit.
Ok, I can't resist...
Can I play after all? i want in. I'll pay for whatever shipping etc. there is. I'm just super pumped!
This is such a flippin' AWESOME idea. And for Max to volunteer to use the winners is a really cool idea. Totally.
If I win, and he uses mine, I'm gonna put something really gross in it for him to eat... ;)
Tapatalked from my batphone.
I have one of these pouches, and have tried to make a kit in it, but theres such a big gap between the flap and pouch that I worry everything will fall out if it was ever tipped sideways. Is there a trick I dont know about with these to keep everything contained?
WW.

Hey, why don't you just put a sock in it?
I mean inside the pouch, or use a plastic bag, or an otter box or well you get my drift. I haven't measured one lately but I also suspect you could find a can that would fit in it for a cup/billy with a bale.

Now we just all have to conspire to build absolutely crappy kits to make Madmax's night out epic :P

So...if there is a pouch available, I'm in. If not...I ~might~ be in...hoping to have an order off to the Beast anyways soon...
Is there a pouch still available with free shipping?
If so I'll play :)
Really glad you are all diggin' this contest. :)
Delete... this is gonna be good.
I'm really amazed at how many articles of womens lingerie fits in one of these pouches & I even had room for a lipstick and mascara ....
Don't let acara play. He's devious and could incite anarchy in the voting. Besides... I'm going to take pics and nobody wants to see me in womens' lingerie. And if someone does, they're on the wrong site... ???
Are you guys who are going to test the winning kits going to be bringing your own knives and pots?
And are the winning kits after being tested going to be returned?
WW.
Wow, BigHat! That was a great kit. I especially like the little soda can pot you made. I was thinking about where to find a close fitting little metal container and it never occurred to me to make one out of an existing can. Impressive!+1 Thats the one to beat!
The rest of the contents look well planned. The fire kit is nice too. Compact, but complete.
You have definitely set the bar.
it's easy to be the one to beat when i'm the only entry so far...Im stealing that pot idea. Brilliant! And I mean that not because of the contest, but because it's a plain old awesome idea!
PW, that is a chopped down aluminum water bottle, just the right size, and durable

PM sent.
Also I mailed out a mess of pouches today, expect them in a few days folks. Except you Canadian guys, the word grenade will probably slow them down through customs >:D.
So I just called it a pouch.
Awesome! This rocks!Great kit BigHat!

That's a great looking kit greyhound and is going to be hard to compete with. I like those aquamira tabs too. Where do you get those?
- one pair of foam ear plugs for bobbers
- 25 pieces of Berkley Gulp green smelly maggots
Great kit Greyhound!- one pair of foam ear plugs for bobbers
Great idea... I'm totally stealing it for my personal pocket fishing kit!! (but not for the grenade pouch challenge)- 25 pieces of Berkley Gulp green smelly maggots
How well do these work? They seem like another great addition to my survival/pocket kits.
Awesome, looks like a blast!
Well are you gonna do it?
So far we have
Mr. Tettnanger

I believe that is it for the free shipping. I still have pouches available for free, but you'll have to pay for shipping and supplies are limited.
well ok,, just saw you need 100 posts, thats ok though, another time perhaps
I got my pouch and was a little surprised at how small it is!
You guys who have posted already have done an amazing job and have set the bar so high that anything that I was thinking of throwing together will seem childish and trivial in comparison! Great job!

The pouch size does make it challenging but it is great to have with you if you ever did need it. There are going to be duplicate items in all of the kits, I'm looking forward to seeing the unique items people put in there kits and the ideas behind them.
So lets see some more kits.

Exactly, not everyone's pouch will be the same, but similarities are expected. We all have a general idea on survival and kit building, after all. :)
Anyone get their pouches in the mail?
Mine showed up on the 25th, looks brand new! I am going to be busy this weekend but will try to put something together. I have almost all the materials I need except for the fishing gear.
Doesn't look like my magic beans and pixie dust is gonna cut it... :'(Hey, don't count out magic beans and pixie dust so easily my friend! ;)

I am soooo loving the creativity here, guys. KK, that was a great kit and you shouldn't worry about being entered or not, it's all good. Thanks friend Rog. I enjoyed putting it together, and I've been carrying it around just 'cause I like it so much! I'm really diggin' this idea and the kits people are putting together!
Lots of time left folks, no need to rush. :)Except Zammer. He should rush, cuz I wanna see the "Pixie Dust PSK." :D

Man, those things are handy. Walmart craft section.
Cool kit WT! :thumbsup:Sure. Uh huh. You bought the 15 pack for the empties. Yeah. ;)
I just bought a 15 pack of beer to get the special edition aluminum bottles to try to make a small pot similar to BigHat. :D
Nice work.
I'm hoping the voting goes towards really good kit. :) Sucks spending the night out with really minimal stuff. Ask me how I know...
WB. Minimal NC camping in June can be ruff. I'm really looking forwad to it! :)
So where's UpTheCreek from? Let's get him in on this party. We can use his canoe too. :)
So where's UpTheCreek from? Let's get him in on this party. We can use his canoe too. :)
Creeks 220 northeast of me. I'll see if I can get him on board as official videographer. I don't think he can participate. If he sleeps on the ground we'll need to medevac him the next morning.
There's an area on the French Broad outside of Hot Springs that I scoped out this winter that looks awesome. And my property would work if we have enough rain for running water in the creek. And If you have any thoughts, I'm open to suggestions.

So we run Section 9 of the French Broad , video us on Frank Bell's rapid, camp with a pocket kit, and post the pics and vids. Cool! :) If you don't have a WW boat, I've got ya covered. Creek might be able to make that section in his new canoe. Or just swim alot... :)
lol. kiddin'. Beautiful country up there. Looking forward to it.
I'm 5 miles down a dirt road to the AT as it comes outa Nantahala Gorge. Yup, lotsa choices. I'ld like to feed myself with some trout or smallmouth.
As I see the posts I'm strategizing. LOL.
I love this thread, thanks all to have contributed your ideas. It's such a great cross section of what a complete newb should think about!
Welcome to the forum Peter. You should head over to the introduction area and introduce your self when you get a chance. Hope you enjoy the forum. Thanks gh, I will. I've been lurking, listening and learning
Greyhound? What do you mean by tethering? To the pouch itself or striker/firesteel together?
Thanks guys for the compliments. :) This was hard thinking. And I'm still re-thinking on it.
WW.
Hey now.. theres some serious thought behind that gum... :P
McGyver used it for many things. Gum and wrapper.
But.. gum is good for staving off hunger pains. If its a peppermint flavor it helps with calming down stomach aches. And if you have troubles with sugars it will kick in the thought of eating and help with that too. ( doc told me that).
ANd I have to agree.. that beef jerky looks delish!
WW.
Wow Zammer the beef jerky was pretty cool! I think the only way to top that would be.... bacon! :D
great kits so far. I will see if
I can get mine done real quick. I think I have the necessary items I planned to include all at the house now finally.
Well, This really was a Challenge for me. I just kept down sizing all the stuff I wanted in the kit.
Here it is closed.

Here are the altoids contents.
Cotton pads, small magnesium ferro rod fire starter, Peanut lighter, (The fluid has been in there a solid 2 years and it still lit right up.), 50 ft of mechanics wire .040 ga. Plastic vial with fish lure bell sinker and 3 split shots.12 foot leader 30lbs test., a bar of soap and three dehydrated compressed towels. a fourth in the pouch. I have a magnetized needle too it's sitting on a stack of neodymium magnets overnight so not pictured.

all inside the tin
(http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u173/XJ35S/IMG_20130329_185528_zpsc69241ad.jpg)
Out side the tin is a poncho, Gerber paraframe, small bottle of purell hand sanitizer, A signal mirror, 3 band aides, Spool of dental floss, a small ziplock with salt and pepper. I guess I could put the mirror inside the tin and maybe add cordage to the pouch?

Nice going boys, good to see your additions...+1!

so who's still left to make a kit? i'm itching to see these bad boys put to use by two of B&B's finest!
late spring huh? maybe we'll have a virginia summer time round 2... i wonder if U.W. would be willing to go out in the sticks with my dumbass for a weekend with just two pouches...
Lol, Jon it's April 2 already! :DWe're in April?
jontok wins. LOL. :shrug:Here's some motivation for ya Max http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ekq1erf4ZkY&list=PL03ACHXzyMSAbVKZhooF0S6IGsvh3WF9Q&index=1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ekq1erf4ZkY&list=PL03ACHXzyMSAbVKZhooF0S6IGsvh3WF9Q&index=1)
When is the drawing? or did I miss it?
Awesome. So I can redo mine? I'll post here but consider it not an entry as I already posted one?
I sent out a grenade pouch this week so there is a least one more entry to go. If anyone else wants to participate I can send you a pouch for the cost of shipping.Ok sounds great still available ?
I found a few more. 8)

Rob, don't sweat the post count, your in. Although your posts are certainly welcome.
I believe we still have two folks that have received pouches that have not put up their entries but their is still time.

Still working on mine....
WB, Our new puppy ate mine. Old cliche I know but it's true. The fishing leaders only have the snap swivels left. I'm not sure which dog might have swallowed the cables. It's been a couple weeks and they seem fine.
So can we dismiss my previous entry? If I won I don't think I have the same contents now or the ambition to redo it the same.
Here they are, can you tell which is the 5 month old? 1/2 Great Dane/ 1/2 Rottweiler-Xena and Rhodesian Ridgeback- Julia. They look soooo innocent...

Jontok has troll meat for lunch, he put pics up once!
He's prolly got a troll for a pet too
I'm inspired now to try and find one of those grenade pouches and then steal umm emulate the best ideas from all the entrants. Nice work folks you should all be proud of making them up. I hope you get out to use them under controlled conditions.
