J.Wilson cleaver

Had this knife given to me, I have some nice bone to fix the old wooden riveted handle (presumably not original but would like opinions as they were copper and looked pretty fitting)
What's the story behind knives like these? Is there anyone with approximate dating knowledge of these? And are the j.Wilson line of knives worth much? It's my baby, not looking to sell but I'd like to know a bit of its story as it's great quality steel. Any help appreciated.

Nice blade. Well worth any effort you put in it. Look forward to seeing it put back in service.
