Well, this was a rather tricky build. OE wanted my old original woodie blade shape, with a 3/4 high convex grind. Definitely learned the limitations of my 2x42 grinder, and the additional 30" of belt on a 2x72 is definitely a must for that kind of grinding. Even removing the platen only gave me about 3" of slack, not nearly enough for what I needed to do. So I had to get creative, and this is the result..
I also learned that on these lighter handle materials, I need to drill the loveless bolts to exact size. I always drill 1/32" over to give the glue room to set on the bolts and lanyard tube. It is clearly visible on this one, it looks like I burned the bolts. Totally not the case, just the glue being visible. Anyhow, I have updated him along the way, and he seems pretty happy about the outcome, so once he gets it in his hands he will either praise me or trash me lol
