Carved Love Spoons
« on: July 07, 2015, 05:37:43 PM »
I did these several years ago.  I posted them on that other site but prefer they be shown here, too.  Better class of people.  These are carved from Linden (Basswood) or Butternut, mostly with a carving knife and a bent (spoon) knife.  Obviously, these are not users.

I especially like the one with the cluster of grapes and grape leaves, but I don't think I could get it into the top of my jar of Welch's.

MaxEntropy, they look great!

Is there any trick to making the areas where you removed all the material?  Some of those regions look quite small.

No trick.  Drill a hole thru the area you want to remove, use a coping saw to cut ut out.  Use a fine carving knife to shape it.

WOW!! Max I am absolutely astounded by these. I enjoy the basic carving skills I have acquired but I can honestly say that looking at these are a kick in the pants to kick things into overdrive!! Thank you for the motivation.
