2012 Woodlore Convex Finshed
« on: April 17, 2012, 06:35:08 PM »
Well here is the blade I received from Steve in a trade that we worked out. I hope I can do this awesome blade justice with my first handle job. Well here goes the build.

The knife blank.

Here are the handle scales that I picked out to put on the woodlore.

Day 1
Here are a couple of pics of the liners being glued to the scales. As Steve recommends a can of acetone was not that far out of reach.  I needed to get a few more things before I could continue.

Day 2
A lot of progress on the knife build. Here is a shot of the first scale being glued to the knife blank.

A close up shot.

Getting ready to drill the brass pin holes and the lanyard tube hole. An awesome view of the greyhound workshop. LOL

A close of of the drilling process.

Here is a profile shot of side 1 completed and getting ready to begin side 2.

Side 2 glued up and ready for shaping and drilling. That is it for day 2. Off to the the doctor's office.

Thanks for all of the complements. This has been a fun learning experience so far and now I can truly respect all the hard work custom knife builders put into their blades.

I need to get some pics of the finshed knife. I have a few more progress pictures I just need to shoot some finished pics. I am hoping to get the sheath done but my girlfriend's horse / jack arse has been taking up a lot of my time.

The knife has a few things that I wish I could have done better on but you got start somewhere. Looking forward to doing the next knife.

Well here are the final pics of the build.

Second side profile finished.

Installed brass pins and brass lanyard tubing.

Finished sanding.

The knife is finished after polishing.

Thanks for following my build and a BIG thanks to Steve for helping me with my questions and concerns. Next up sheath time!
