Using Basswood for a kuksa?

Has anyone used basswood for a kuksa?  It is much softer than birch.

I haven't even ventured into a kuksa yet, but there are folks who use basswood for them.

I have a few boards saved for something unknown. Have whittled some bass into a wooden scabbard. No kuksa though.
One thing for sure it wood be pleasant work. With your talent a good chance for some exterior relief work if you wanted to ;D

I feel like getting a good drying oil deep into the wood, along with some firm burnishing it wood make a nice useable cup. Maybe not a workhorse, or a fancy grain eye dazzler ( a good reason to add decorative carving)

Well, good enough for me to try it.  I have a basswood plank about 4" x 4" x 12 inch that is sitting there crying "Kuksa, Kuksa" to me.  And I like the idea of some surface embellishment!
