Road Trip Recommendations
« on: April 17, 2012, 09:27:04 PM »
I'm planning on possibly taking a trip (sometime this spring) through the northern states from Thunder Bay, ON to around the bottom of Lake Superior to Sault Ste. Marie.   As I've said elsewhere, it's hard to get certain things in Canada, so I was hoping to check out some military surplus places as well as some outdoors/camping stores along the route.

Does anyone have any suggestions of places I could check along the way?

Also, is there any place you would say I 'need' to stop and see along the way?  Maybe a great place for a short day hike en route?

Anything you can offer would help.

Thanks.

Are you going to be in the U.P. of Michigan?  How about Fort Michilimackinac or Mackinack Island?   There's a tremendous museum at Whitefish Point on the shipwrecks throughout Lake Superior's history, that you would really like......especiall y if you like hearing an endless loop of Gordon Lightfoot's The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald playing over the sound system ;D

Ya.  I would likely like that a lot.  Thanks Wolfy.  (One of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar!)

Have a great time.  Been many many years since I was up that way.  So much to see.  Take lotsa pics and share when you get home.
At least it's not a femur through the pelvis.
