New Ride
« on: October 01, 2015, 03:25:22 PM »
After test driving (to make sure Mrs. Crash was comfortable with it) picked up a Native 14.5 tandem kayak.  As you can see, it is sort of a hybrid kayak.  It converts from tandem to solo very easily.  This is a discontinued model, but rumor has it that Native is now under new leadership and some of the popular discontinued boats will be brought back.  I chose this one over the beefier (lots of bells and whistles) 15 foot (current model) because this is about 25 pounds lighter.  Makes it a lot easier to load on top of the big truck.  The payload is lighter but still rated at 450 pounds.

Maiden voyage will be this weekend....hopefull y.

Cool set-up, it's sorta like a canoe but yet like a yak, was this the boat you used in the keys?

We rented one like it to make sure my wife was comfortable with it.  Some of the yaks we've tried were a bit too wide for her and not compatible with her arthritis.  This is the most comfortable (her words) boat she paddled.  We went back the next day and bought it.

Yeah, that's what I thought, too....looks more like a canoe than a kayak. :P

Great looking boat there Dave. Glad to hear the wife enjoys the boat.

Hope a bear doesn't eat it.  Nice looking boat.

Congrats on the new Native Dave, I know you've been thinking about that boat for a while. The Native seats are real comfortable. I believe you can take them out and use as a camp seat also, is that right?

Very nice!  Really like that it's convertible.

Not sure if this model is different from others, but the seat pan is attached to the seat.  I wouldn't use them as camp seats out of concern of causing damage to the pan.

That's a really cool boat. I've never been a real fan of the kayaks but a kayak that performs like a canoe. Our the other way around. Yeah.I dig that. How much does it weigh?
