Finally got mine built.  About time to get the kayak off those beat up saw horses.

Nice Rack... I'm redoing some fencing on the east side of my house and will be doing something similar for boat storage.

Nice job.  My two hang from a pulley system on the ceiling of the garage.

Tony,  Mine took three 8 ft 2x4, one 12 ft 2x4.  6 each 6 inch carriage bolts, nuts, washers, and a handfull of screws.

I don't know, outside of hurricanes, if you guys get a lot of wind down there or not, but when I used to store my canoe outside, I had to secure the ends of the canoe to the rack with a couple of tarp straps.  Mine was on short posts with crossbars, like clothesline posts, between two outbuildings.  My thinking was, that it would be out of direct sunlight for most of the day, but I didn't take into consideration the increased wind velocity between the two buildings.   After a sudden wind gust lifted it off the T-posts and carried it over a fence, I added the tarp straps and never had the problem again.  Just a caveat for your consideration. O:-)

Yeah hurricanes are another process.  I flip my boats upright on the ground and fill with water.  The spin off tornadoes are what really worry me.

and what if sun spots cause a mega typhoon?  What if a super volcano erupts in my freaking back yard?  What if hoards of Vikings intent on plunder raid the casa?

Seriously,  I'll be sure to guard against most of the likely events, and maybe even for some probables, but fantasy land is just not worth the time.  :)

it's not that I don't care Wolfy.  More on the order of I have certainly thought of this stuff, and made what I feel are adequate preperations.  Simple common sense and prudence.  But thanks.
