What's with the blue highlighting ?
« on: April 22, 2012, 06:45:43 AM »

What's with the blue highlighting of certain words,  especially those dealing with shopping or money ?

I don't know about anyone else but I find it annoying,  is it my server or new to this forum ?

I'm not seeing what you are describing.
Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? One should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, it is much safer to be feared than loved.

Thanks Mike,  it may be on my end,  I'll have to look into it,  it started a few days ago for no apparent reason and it's driving me nuckin futs.

Moe.. something may have snuck into your computer.      I gal friend of mine had that happen.   Its something like big programs like Google are doing this now..   ( just using for instance)  so it picks up on keywords of a search or shopping you've done in anything you type or read afterwards.

She took her puter to someone to get it cleaned.

Thats all I know...but its an avenue for you to check out.

Looks like that's what's happened,  it seems to be nothing more than a major advertizing scam,  no less or more than any other unwanted spam.
Being a life long conservative and free market's type of guy,  but I'm really starting to dislike the way business is being conducted by large business interests,  there's no longer any integrity in the world of money, nothing matters but the bottom line.
Were I king and able to wave my magic wand,  we'ed all be back to doing business with Mom and Pop businesses. >:(

Amen to that Moe!    I try really hard to keep my dollars at local mom and pop stores in town.   But when it comes to food shopping.. I'm forced to do the walmart thing.   With a 200.00 a month food budget.. I just cannot stretch it anymore.

I was at an online clothes shopping site awhile back.   ANd now I notice when I'm at other sites this same catalogs add is there.    Took me a few days to realize its my computer telling those sites what adds interest me.    I dont know how to get rid of it.

I hope you find a solution to yours.  adds on the side are one thing..but the hightlighting would drive me crazy-er.

Well they call it progress,  technology,  and other terms that try to make us be more accepting of methods that are no more than a huge invasion of our individual privacy.
And the more accepting of it that we are the more control we lose over our own lives,  and it looks like there ain't much we can do about it,  and not go to prison.
There's a lot to be said for bringing back those times when a man could call his tormentors out on a dusty street and settle things personally.   :)

:soap: I hate the Big business Bottom line make it off shore model too, I prefer to do my business at the local feed store, hardware/lumberyard locally owned and operated places where the Co HQ is a desk in the back. Getting back to the gold standard would be nice too! Rant over!

If your being tracked and getting spy ware and hate being tracked by google, well there is a free program called DO NOT TRACK I have it installed on my computers and for the dial up challenged among us it is a Small DL. You would be surprised at  how many people are looking at you learning all about you. This little program stops the theft of your privacy. heres the link http://www.abine.com/dntdetail.php

That and Microsoft and Google. I use none of them, I run a Linux OS, I canceled the Google account and no longer use their services as a registered user so my problems are almost non existent.

Cyanopsia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cyanopsia is a medical term for seeing everything tinted with blue. It is also referred to as blue vision.   Cyanopsia also sometimes occurs as a side effect of taking sildenafil (Viagra), Cialis, or Levitra (Viagra and vision, n.d.).

That may explain everything  >:D

I tried it once,  the pill got caught in my throat,  all I ended up with was a stiff neck that lasted about six hours,  but that was a long time ago.

Moe, if you are getting the blue highlighting of words on this forum when you are doing a "search", it is probably the highlighting of the words in your search criteria.
