A Fire in the snow and a Canadian IMP (like a MRE)
« on: February 09, 2016, 04:57:26 PM »
I had a nice trip to the woods after 40 cm of snow.   I made a nice little fire and tried this IMP which is basically a Canadian version of a MRE.

Built a quick fire but it will be the fire place for my new winter shelter.  I will post a few pics later it was dark by the time I got my lean to built. Well its more like a small town house.

If you like watching people eat in front of a fire this video will be just up your alley.

Glad you enjoyed it.  I'm going to grab a few more of these for winter camping.

I like your video. Simple, direct, informative, seemingly honest.
I laughed myself silly she you said "burning your sausages sounded painful". Scrambled eggs and sausages was my favourite IMP. I always liked the crackers too. The Kosher and Halal meals apparently are popular.
Back awhile ago, when I did port security stuff, us and the USN and USMC guys would always try to trade IMPs and MREs back and forth; each side thinking we were getting the better of the deal.
MRE's did have those nifty flameless heaters though.

Thanks for the note Yeoman.  30 years ago you could buy some of the boil in the foil entries and I took them on several winter camping trips.  It was a bit of a treat to re live that meal.   The heaters are handy.  Going to try a differnet types over the next year and likely a MRE for a snowshoe trip to the range.  Were any of the Halal meals lamb?  I like me some baaaaa.
