Home Depot HDX Folding Saw
« on: April 25, 2012, 10:07:00 AM »
These had been talked about on another forum and I finally got around to getting one.  5 bucks figured couldn't hurt to try .  It's called a Silky clone by some, I've not used a Silky but it does seem to be a similar design from looking at them online.  I'd been wanting a smaller folding saw as my Corona is too big to stick in my shoulder bag and is generally overkill when I'm just mucking about in the woods. I plan to get an opinel saw at some point, but giving this a workout for now.

It's a tad thin on blade stock, thinner than either my SAK or leatherman saw blades.  Not a deal breaker but I could see it being easily bent.  But at 5 dollars I'll take the chance.  Was goofing in my stomping grounds and cut a few staffs for walking sticks, hickory and poplar as well as a section of tree that had been hit by lightening.  Thing cuts pretty well all in all.

Still need to put it through some paces but I would say if you need a small cheap folding saw for when a SAK is too small. it's worth trying.

Cool.  Thanks for the info on it.  Your shoulder bag looks pretty sweet.
