scratch proof painted blades
« on: December 31, 2016, 05:11:24 PM »
i see a lot of fancy bush/survival knives these days with coated blades.
but is the coating scratch proof? i painted a blade yesterday and then baked it.
went out to the shop a little while ago and decided to see if i could scratch the
coating on the tang. it took a little work but it indeed  did   scratch/
so is this all just a tacticool thing or what?

i must admit that krylon ultraflat in o/d and coyote tan does look good.
while it lasts.

You could try some of the colored gun finishes. Cerakote comes to mind.

They even list "knives" as an application.
