Paddling some mountain lakes

I spent Memorial Day on the water getting out fished by the only person allowed to out fish me.  The area was the Wichita Mountains and we tried out a couple small lakes.  Lots more we'll have to get back and try out sometime.  It was a great day.  Didn't take as many full trip report pics as I usually do but here's a look at the day.

I can't improve on what Tony said, but just wanted to comment on the profusion of wildfloweres this year.....it looks like we're going to have a magnificent bloom here in Nebraska, too.

Always neat to see how the kids are growing and still having a great time outdoors, too!!

That's killer man! Your daughter wears a smile and that is wonderful. Hope the fish wasn't dinner or you'd had to shoot the buffalo! Nice trip.

Holy cow Bel is growing fast, looks like she's about twice as tall as the last time we saw her!!

Thanks fellas!  Yeah the years are really flying now.  Both kids are growing like crazy.  I'm just grateful they both like spending time outdoors.  Hopefully I can keep that way.  Yeah we didn't get enough fish for dinner.  I do love a buffalo burger though so it was tempting creek!

I'll have to do another post in a couple weeks on the crashete.  I abused it on accident and smacked a rock something awful with it in the grass.  Considering the hit the crashete took it like a champ and like you'd want a machete to do.  I just need to fix back now.  That'll be the next thread when I have some time to do it right.

A perfect day. I need to ask because I'm kinda dumb. Do the bison run free? I know there are still wild horses roaming but I didn't know there were any bison that weren't on a farm.

It's a wildlife refuge so it's as wild as it will get for them.  They roam free within the refuge and cross the roads, etc.  No fence between us in the pic I took.
