Becket hitch? My way?
xj35s:
Not sure I'm doing it right either but the way I do it, has not failed yet. I hang inside all the time.
Basically a slipper half, if on the tree side, and a becket on the hammock side right?

Not sure if you are asking if your method is correct, it looks right to me. I prefer cinch buckles with webbing on tbe hammock end and a carabiner for the tree end.
I did watch this method and it looks like yours.

That proves it then. I never saw that info graphic before. Thank you.
I made this video as a response to someones video where it was above the continuous loop. I've never been able to get that to hold. Derek says it can be on either side though. Maybe I tie it wrong above the loop?
Do you have to add a half hitch to ensure the buckles don't slip? I tried a buckle and a descender ring setup both slipped.
This becket stays put quick and easy and only straps are needed. Nice having the biners at the tree though.

Tying the Becket hitch above the loop is similar to tying a rope halter on a horse with the half hitch above the loop, it will slip and your horse would be free.
With the ring setup I tried 4 years ago it always slipped without the backup half hitch. I got tired of this setup quickly and researched for a better system and found the cinch buckles from Arrowhead Equipment and still use this today on my day hammock. This setup has has never slipped on me.
I won a Dutch hammock last year with the 'Beetle Buckle' cinch buckle system, I have only used this hammock a couple of times and it hasn't slipped neither.

The feeling of me now is very glad to be with everyone here.
