« on: February 07, 2018, 04:17:18 AM »
I found a nice suprise while cleaning my axes
my shinleing hatchet is a underhill
says boston underneath with a star inbetween the words.
a plumb, stamped plumb inside of a stamped box sharp corners on box.
a little norland it's tiny must be a childs axe it's small.
i'm still cleaning the others theres a adze and one giant one i think is a grans fors
it's used to build log cabins it has like a 10 to 12,in blade.
ill try to post photos when done.

Congrats, it's always nice to find vintage pieces, but even better when you already own them,  a couple of years ago I was cleaning a corner in my basement to make room for winter storage of my solo canoe,  in moving stuff I found a long lost Norlund canoe axe and an almost new vintage Wetterling's  hatchet,  the handle was pretty much dry rotted but a new handle and a little TLC had it back to showroom new in no time.
That little Norlund of yours is probably a kindling hatchet,  Norlunds in decent shape are bringing high prices these days, good on you.

I think Norlunds are ok on the quality of edge. Very good on design. Lately when I hear the name a quiet voice whispers eeeebaayy
Thus far I have resisted looking to replace my boyhood pride and joy DBSA

Is that what you have hayshaker - the mini double ?

well anyhow while cleaning the axes. I had found that the large broad axe
is NOT a grans fors but some other kind i don't know that bites,
