This could enhance the trip sharing around here!!!!

I'm anxious to hear what PW has to say about this!  The last time direct downloading of pix came up, the Simple Machines engine required that the copy of the photo be stored on the host server, which created a storage issue.  If Simple Machines has changed the protocol so direct linking is possible, that would be great!

I don't see how posting an image from the postimage.org link that BigHat provided in his OP could possibly be any simpler than it is.    There's even a direct hot-link for forums.....second option from the bottom, if I recall correctly.  Two clicks and it shows up here with no extra crap to deal with.............an d like he says, IT'S FREEEE!

I belong to two other forum (WineMakingTalk, and Backyard Chickens) and both of those site let you upload images directly from you HD, or camera. Click on the 'add file' icon, browse your picture files on your computer, and select. Bing, bang, done...  I think that's what XJ is talking about.

I checked out postimage.org and didn't like some of their policies. Main critics cite their very limited storage space for non-paying members.  I finally got some of my questions on Imgur about Albums and I like that site a lot.

Since I'm using an iPad and I don't post that many photos, I'm going to take advantage of postimage.org as long as I can without shelling out any frogskins to them.  Imjur works for me, too, but there are just more steps to take and hoops to jump through than I care to perform.

It cuts out the middle man. Like other forums you can click the add photo. choose from the hard drive, and the plug in uploads the image to postimage and creates the bb code and that link posts on this forum automatically. Using the plug in it would seem as though B&B were hosting the image.

two clicks. add photo, Choose photo.

Test.
