looking for a rechargeable lantern to read by
« on: August 07, 2018, 10:35:35 PM »
I am in the market for a rechargeable lantern that would work for reading at night. My head lamp is not cutting it. I don't know if it is not bright enough, or if the led's  put out bad light, all I do know it is not a good reading light. I think part of the issue is the LED's themselves, it seems to me that back when headlamps and lanterns used old school bulbs the reading light was better.

Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks
Nice matters

personally I like the UCO candle lantern with the reflector on it. I have read that the keychain lights with a ping pong ball cover diffuses the light well. if your headlight is large then maybe a milk jug plastic diffuser will work for you.
Is it the glare or the or is it just not bright enough.  Check your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto. They seem to have a good selection of lights.
For more light I would suggest a COB led.

For less glare maybe a diffused bulb.

This one works pretty well for reading Orbean, weighs nothing, and collapses down to a small size.

700 lumens,  holds a charge well,  charges via a USB port.  Three brightness settings.   I paid right at $30 bucks
