Matthew Walker Knot Brush/Comb Holder
1/2"  manila rope
I tied this circa 1966.  I was on board my first US Navy ship.  I admired the knot work of a boatswain's mate and he introduced me to knot tying.  My wife recently discovered it in an old storage box.

With a stiff enough rope fiber that would make a fine flintlock brush to clean the pan out and get debris off of the metal around the touch hole.

I just loves the smell of BP smoke in the morning.

I like that, I?ll have to swing by the hardware store and pick up a few yards. It would be great for wisking off the top of the Dutch Oven, plus other clean up around the fireplace hearth and wood stove.

It maybe possible to make it out of Sable Palm, pliable but much stiffer, may need to be steamed to make the twisted three ply. I?ve been making brushes out of Saw Palmetto. I do it as a demonstration from time to time and get the kids making them for Mom.

I like the Story of how the Matthew Walker Knott came to be.

I went ahead and threw one together last night. I had to review the Matthew Walker Knott.
