Plumb jet wing double bit
« on: October 04, 2018, 09:52:29 AM »
I've been wanting to try and make my own tool handles, but needed something so the search was on for an old axe head. I found a PLUMB 4 jet wing double bit in nice shape. Its marked in round cornered rectangle and was curious about the reason for the jet wings. My first post so I cant? post photos yet, any info greatly appreciated. Glad to be a new member.

When you say jet wings, I'm going to make the assumption you're talking about bevels.  Don't know if either of these links will help:

As far as I know, "jet wings" are an attempt toward maximum bit strength, and minimum weight.

Doing some research I came across the same advertisement but wasnt sure of the timeframe for the rounded corners or the jet wings.

They are also supposed to help the bit not get stuck and release easier when chopping.  Welcome to the axe world!
