A simple beer bread recipe
« on: January 03, 2020, 02:52:19 PM »
I tried this and was happy with the result.  Easy to do and an hour later you have bread.

3 cups self rising flour (if you use all purpose flour add 3  teaspoons of baking powder)
1/4 cup or less of sugar
no salt
12 ounces of beer of your choice (I used a year old Pilsner that wasn't skunky)
1/2 cup of melted butter

mix everything together including half the melted butter
place the mixed batter in a greased loaf pan and pour the remaining melted butter over the mix.
bake at 375 degrees for one hour.  Let it cool for 15 minutes.
It is a good idea to put the loaf pan on a metal sheet to catch drips

Like all beer breads it is a heavy bread.

Ok.  This is just the recipe I was just looking at today t to make at Rendevous next week.  This serendipity is getting weird.  In the dark cobwebbed recesses of my mind, I seem to remember quantum particles at any distance begin to vibrate at the same frequency....

?. you have just entered the Twilight Zone.

That sounds really good, but I've been cutting my carb intake to around 50 grams/day for the last year and a half.  Seems to be having the desired result....I've lost 103 lbs., so far.   I really miss my sourdough pancakes and bread, though. :'(

That's great!!!  I drop 5-10 lbs then go on a feeding frenzy and I'm right back where I started. lol
